The origin of yellow cicada

This variety is native to Brazil and has been widely cultivated in the tropics. It is cultivated in the gardens of Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan and Beijing (greenhouse) in China.

Morphological characteristics of yellow cicada

The yellow cicada is about 1 mi 2 meters high, with milk, and the branches are gray.

Leaf blade 3mur5 whorled, entire, mostly elliptic or Obovate-oblong, about 6mur12cm in length and 2mur4cm in width, leaf tip acuminate or acute, base cuneate, leaf surface dark green, abaxially light green, glabrous except for tomentose dorsal midvein and lateral veins.

Leaf veins flattened on the leaf surface, raised on the back of the leaves, 7-12 on each side of the lateral veins, anastomosing before reaching the margin; petiole very short, with glands at the base and axils.

The Cymes of the yellow cicada are terminal, the pedicels are tomentose above, the flowers are yellow, the length of the flowers is 4mur6 cm, the opening is about 4 cm in diameter, and the bracts are lanceolate, inserted at the base of the pedicel.

Corolla funnelform, with reddish-brown stripes inside, lower Corolla cylindric, not more than 2 cm long, 2 Mel 4 mm in diam., base dilated, throat enlarged upward into a Corolla, ca. 3 cm in length, ca. 1.5 cm in diameter, tip of Corolla 5-lobed, Corolla lobes covered to left, lobes ovoid or rounded, apex obtuse, 1.6 mi long, ca. 1.7 cm wide.

The yellow cicada has 5 stamens, growing in the Corolla tube throat, the filaments are relatively short, the base is tomentose, the anther is oval, the tip is obtuse, the disk is fleshy, the ovary is entire, 1-loculed, the style filiform, the tip of the stigma is obtuse, and the base is annular.

The capsule of the yellow cicada is spherical, spiny, about 3 cm in diameter, the seed is flattened, has a thin edge, is about 2 cm in length and 1.5 cm wide, flowering in May-August and fruiting in 10-12 months.
