In order to protect the firmness and beauty of all kinds of potted noodles and prevent watering from washing the soil, most people like to lay Cuiyun grass or cypress on the potted surface, and when the above two kinds of plants cannot be found, they can also be covered with moss in order to protect the firmness and beauty of various potted noodles and prevent watering from washing the soil.

After pot planting of Cymbidium and Cymbidium, a layer of Cuiyun grass (Selaginella officinalis) is planted on the potted surface to protect the potted soil from being damaged by Rain Water; the leaves will not be splashed with soil, which can increase the beauty of the orchid pot; maintain a certain humidity of the potted soil; and avoid high temperature burning pseudobulbs and roots. But laying Cuiyun grass on the basin also has a management problem. Cuiyun grass is growing so fast that it must be renovated twice a year. For the first time in April and May, the spread was cut off along the sink with scissors. Then gently restrain the Cuiyun grass layer on the basin surface with your fingers, put the finger height evenly, and gradually trim neatly along the basin Radian; the second time, after the Beginning of Autumn, first cut off the Cuiyun grass overflowing the edge of the basin according to the previous method, and then hold down the Cuiyun grass layer with a few fingers in one hand, and the other finger gently twist the surface of the foliage clump and remove it along the outer direction, making the leaf layer sparse and thin. All the sinks are cleared.

When cultivating orchids or other orchids, some people use black, brown or gray-white pebbles as small as beans to cover the basin, but these stones are not as good and beautiful as Cuiyuncao in regulating the temperature, humidity and air permeability of the basin, and the stones can only be laid on the flat basin. As for whether it is suitable for orchid basin noodles in China, it remains to be tested in practice.

The northern climate is dry, it is not easy to grasp the dry and wet of the basin soil after laying, and the basin plants are not easy to survive, so it is not suitable to use this method. (Lin Qingde, Mu Wei)
