Planting and maintenance skills of longevity flowers
Maintenance skills of longevity flowers
Change the basin: change the basin every spring, using a mixture of fertile garden soil, peat and sand. The basin soil should not be too wet.
Watering: watering once or twice a week during the growing period, watering should be controlled in midsummer and pay attention to ventilation. If it is hot and humid, the leaves are easy to wither, yellow and fall off.
Fertilization: fertilize once every semimonthly during the growing period. When flower buds are formed in autumn, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied twice.
Light temperature: longevity flowers are short-day plants and are sensitive to photoperiod. When the plants with good growth and development were treated with short-day light (8-9 hours per day) for 3-4 weeks, the buds could blossom.
Propagation methods of longevity flowers
Cutting: the effect is best in May-June or September-October. Select a slightly mature fleshy stem, cut it 5-6 cm long, insert it in a sand bed, cover it with a thin film after watering, and take root at 15-20 ℃ at room temperature. It can be potted in 30 days. Ten centimeter pots are commonly used. If there are not many seedlings, leaf cuttings can be used. Cut the sturdy and full leaves from the petiole, insert them obliquely or horizontally on the sand bed after the incision is slightly dry, and maintain humidity for about 10-15 days, they can take root from the base of the leaves and grow new plants.
Planting combination suggestion: Huang Li and Hongzhiyu
