Like all plants, orchid fertilization should be fully balanced, in order to promote orchid better growth, in addition to proper sunlight, water and ventilation, but also provide the right amount of fertilizer, in order to facilitate strong growth and easy flower pregnancy. Complete fertilizer should be the best fertilizer for orchids. The effects of various elements are as follows:

① nitrogen can promote the growth of stems and leaves.

② phosphorus is one of the essential nutrients in plant growth.

③ potassium is an important element for plant upright and regular activity. In addition, it can increase the ability of plants to resist various diseases.

④ calcium is an essential element to make up the cell wall and make the cells move regularly.

⑤ magnesium is part of chlorophyll, and it is essential to make nutrients.

⑥ sulfur is one of the protein components.

⑦ iron is also a part of chlorophyll, lack of iron, can make young leaves yellow.

⑧ trace elements mainly refer to manganese, copper, boron, zinc and so on, which are very little in plants. They are a kind of stimulating elements, which directly affect flowering and color. After the lack of these trace elements, it can make the plant bloom unbeautifully and grow abnormally.

There are two kinds of fertilizers commonly used in orchids:

① organic fertilizer: such as grass, broad bean shell, bamboo shoot shell, oil meal, bloody water, soybean milk, human milk, chicken feathers and other extracts, after fermentation before use. Animal manure should also be retted with water to make it mature before it can be used. Livestock bones can also be developed into bone powder and bone charcoal mixed in the bottom of the basin mud, so that the root system does not come into direct contact with fertilizer.

② inorganic fertilizer: chemical fertilizer supplied by the market. Such as potassium nitrate, calcium phosphate, magnesium sulfate, calcium superphosphate, ferric sulfate, etc., must be used with caution. At present, there are all kinds of synthetic fertilizers in China, which are specially used for orchid fertilization. (Lin Qingde, Mu Wei)
