Because the orchid species are different, their cultivation methods are also different, and the origin, ecology and habits of all kinds of orchids are different. in the process of cultivation, factors similar to its original natural environment should be created as far as possible. in order to make the majority of orchid lovers have an overall concept of growing orchids, we introduce the generality, cultivation and management of several traditional orchids.

Places for raising orchids:

The original environment of the orchid is to grow in the mountains, forests and valleys, with high and cool terrain, shaded by trees, forming a humid microclimate, small temperature difference and clean air. In the city, if there are open areas such as high walls and deep courtyards or patios, it is an ideal place to raise orchids. Orchids planted in the ground or in pots should face southeast, so that they can be exposed to the rising sun as early as possible. When the sun is at the top at noon, it is shaded by Reed curtains, and when the sun sets to the west, it is blocked by high walls. When choosing a place to raise orchids, you should pay attention to being exposed to dew, avoiding the hot sun, ventilating and avoiding smoking.

Open field cultivation:

Planting orchids in ① shady land: use sparse shaded houses, wall corners or rockery gaps in the garden to plant them directly on the ground, but the original barren clay must be dug up and replaced with loose and fertile humus soil or good garden soil. When planting orchids on the ground, in addition to considering the quiet layout, the habits of all kinds of orchids, such as spring orchids prefer shade, Huilan should be slightly sunny, autumn orchids, cold orchids, and orchids should not be frozen, all of which should be reasonably arranged in combination with the local climate and culture environment, otherwise they will fall short of success.

② potted orchid: all potted orchids had better not sit on the ground directly, otherwise they are easy to be disturbed by insect pests and weeds, especially when the summer sun is scorching, the orchid pot should be placed on the orchid platform made of wood or cement board, so as to facilitate air convection, constantly supply fresh air, enhance its metabolic function, promote the transformation of orchids to accumulate nutrients and energy, and make orchids grow strong.

Indoor training:

The orchid room is mainly used for overwintering of ground orchids. Due to the different origin and species of orchids and different habits, the room temperature requirements for entering the house and overwintering are also different. Geophytic orchids usually have a temperature of no less than 7-8 ℃, and most of them can be cultivated in open air.

In the process of growing orchid in indoor overwintering management, special attention should be paid to temperature and humidity. Generally speaking, room temperature should be kept above 7 ℃, and 1O~15 ℃ should be kept ideally. During the period of indoor orchid cultivation, especially in the cold season, special attention must be paid to the dry humidity of potted orchids.

When raising orchids indoors, potted orchid grass and potted grass should always be as green and green as they are outdoors, which is conducive to growth.

Orchid Room:

The orchid room is generally only used as a winter shelter for local orchids, and it can also be used as an exhibition room to display famous species during flowering. Terrestrial orchids do not have high requirements for temperature. in general, they can be kept at about 10 ℃ at room temperature.

The ① orchid room should choose a high dry, ventilated and sunny place, preferably facing southeast, and many trees or high walls should be planted on the north side of the room in order to block the chilly north wind.

② orchid rooms can be divided into three types: ordinary tile houses, glass greenhouses, and simple monoclinic boxes against the wall.

③ in nine cold days, when the temperature is too low, in order to ensure the normal growth of orchids should have certain heating facilities. (Lin Qingde, Mu Wei)
