① tile basin, this kind of bowl, is fired with general clay billet, with high hygroscopicity, strong air permeability and good drainage. This kind of pots are cheap, but not beautiful in appearance. When watching or displaying exhibitions indoors, pots with beautiful forms and appropriate colors are often added to set off the beauty and charm of orchids.

② porcelain basin is also made of porcelain clay, with fine texture, bright color, many colors and various shapes. This kind of porcelain basin, because the texture is compact, the air permeability is extremely poor, and it is not easy to emit water, so it is generally used as a decorative cover basin.

③ glaze basins are first made of clay and then fired with colored glaze in foreign countries. Its color is glossy and colorful, such as uniform glaze, white glaze, blue glaze and so on. There are many forms and there are decals, semi-glaze, color painting, relief and so on. It is the most commonly used thing in orchid pots.

④ sand basins have purple sand, red sand, white sand, black mud, iron sand and pear mud of various textures and shapes. Sand basin has quaint color, solid texture and strong air permeability than porcelain, glaze and other flowerpots, so it is one of the pots widely used in the art and orchid world.

⑤ Snake Bowl is made of snake wood rich in Taiwan Province. The new snake wood basin is the most suitable for epiphytic orchid because of its loose tissue, good ventilation and easy drainage. The snake pots that have been used for a few years are suitable for growing terrestrial orchids.

Sand pots and glaze pots are most commonly used when cultivating all kinds of orchids.

In the form of the basin, the trumpet shape, the high waist open basin, the pot bottom round basin, the golden bell type and so on are the most suitable, because the basin is round; the orchid stamens no matter where they are born; they can be changed as a front ornament without affecting the beauty of the basin form. The orchid root is an air-loving fleshy root, which needs an environment with strong air permeability and strong water discharge, so the basin floor stands upright in order to strengthen air convection. The height of the basin foot is 3cm to 5cm, and the bottom of the basin is released.

The diameter of the water hole should be 3 cm to 5 cm.

The selection of pots should be based on the species of orchids and the number of leaf bundles, as well as their growth.

The root system of Chunlan is generally thinner and shorter than other orchids. When choosing pots, you can use open-bottomed trumpet-shaped pots, tripod-shaped pots or shallow pot-shaped pots in depth.

The root system of Cymbidium is thick and long, so it is better to choose high waist, golden bell-shaped or large trumpet-shaped, deep round basin or high-deep polygonal basin.

Chardonnay, autumn orchid, cold orchid, new year orchid type; because potted plants should be more, not less, extra-large pots must be used.

Terrestrial orchids are more sturdy and dense, and should be planted in large, high, deep or round pots, and straight should not be small, so as to have sufficient soil volume and facilitate root system expansion.

All kinds of pots must be soaked in clear water for a period of time before use, and then be used after they absorb enough water and eliminate anger. (Lin Qingde, Mu Wei)
