Does hydrogen peroxide have so many benefits? And six practical tips.
Hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide) has an incredible use in the garden. Can you believe it can be used to grow flowers? Although it can sterilize and disinfect, has any other flower friends ever tried? Well, yes, it certainly helps to grow flowers!
First, why hydrogen peroxide can be used to grow flowers
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has an extra oxygen (O) atom than water (H2O). This extra oxygen atom makes hydroperoxide so useful. Hydrogen peroxide is usually used for cleaning, bleaching, sterilization, disinfection, etc., but it can also be used in gardening.
Simply put, hydrogen peroxide can be used as an oxygen supplement to plants (but only at a very low intensity, otherwise it will only do more harm than good). It can release oxygen and aerate the soil.
Scientific common sense: you can put manganese dioxide in hydrogen peroxide and you can get high-purity oxygen.
Second, the specific use of hydrogen peroxide in flower cultivation
1. Control of root rot.
Too much watering can easily lead to lack of oxygen in the roots. If you always water the plants frequently, water accumulates in the basin soil, and the water in the soil is in contact with the roots of the plants for a long time, the roots will suffocate, and the roots will rot sooner or later.
To simply deal with the problem of plants, 3% hydrogen peroxide can be mixed in 1 liter of water. The extra oxygen in hydrogen peroxide provides oxygen to the roots to sustain their survival.
After that, do not supply water until the basin soil is dry. the basin soil will not be dry until it is 3-5 cm dry.
2. Promote seed germination.
You can use hydrogen peroxide to help seeds germinate faster. Hydrogen peroxide softens the shell of the seed and kills any pathogen, sometimes with some bacteria in the seed coat, thus increasing the germination rate and speed of the seed.
Method: soak your seeds in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes, then rinse the seeds with water several times before planting (like other plant seeds).
3. Molds hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is oxidizing and is fatal to molds. One liter of water mixed with 10 tablespoons of 3% to 6% hydrogen peroxide, according to the degree of infection of the plant, spray this proportion of mixed solution on the mold every day until the fungus disappears.
4. Hydrogen peroxide as fertilizer
Mixing some hydrogen peroxide when watering flowers can help your plant roots grow stronger, but if the concentration is too strong, it will be counterproductive. Hydrogen peroxide has an extra oxygen molecule than water, which can help plant roots breathe better and absorb nutrients from the soil more effectively.
You can occasionally use this method to help root growth, but you can't use it often, mixing about 1 teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide with 4 liters of water.
Warning: make sure you are not using high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, which can kill plants at slightly higher concentrations. 3% strength is the highest concentration, it is recommended that according to the above ratio, add a little more water.
5. The function of preventing pests
Hydrogen peroxide can be used as an insecticide. Mixing the same amount of water with 3% hydrogen peroxide can kill pests and their eggs. Hydrogen peroxide can also kill bacteria in fruits and vegetables, but only for those adult plants. Seedlings or old seedlings cannot afford it.
6. Cleaning of glass stove
Prepare hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, rags or sponges. In a small bowl, mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to a paste.
Apply all the soiled areas of the glass stove, baking soda can absorb oil, hydrogen peroxide helps to remove the residue, after repeated wiping, then wet cloth to wipe off the rest of the baking soda. After drying, you can get sparkling kitchen utensils.
