The most important ecological habits of orchids are as follows.

Like shade

Orchids grow in the mountains for a long time, and verdant, dense trees block the strong sun. The light shining on the orchid is mostly oblique light and diffuse light. This forms the habit that orchids like shade. Strong direct light is not conducive to the growth of orchids.

Drought tolerance

The rocks and slopes where orchids grow are easy to drain and the soil is easy to dry. The rainfall is uneven all the year round, and the soil water content changes greatly. in the dry season with less rain, the soil is prone to continuous drought. In order to adapt to such environmental conditions, the structure of various parts of the orchid plant also showed the characteristics of drought tolerance, such as pseudobulbs and roots could store water, pseudobulbs and time sheets had thicker cuticular layer, aerial roots could absorb water from the air and so on, which was enough to cope with the threat of drought. The soil is too wet to grow orchids. On the other hand, orchids require higher air humidity, which is also due to the fact that orchids grow in moist mountains and forests for a long time.

Suitable ventilation

The mountain of the orchid, the valley wind reverberates, and the orchid is fluttering in the wind, so that the orchid is often surrounded by fresh air, which is conducive to photosynthesis and respiration. If the site is closed and the air is not ventilated, it is not conducive to the growth of orchids and is easy to be infected with diseases and insect pests. The underground roots also require good ventilation, so the soil should be loose.

Avoid pollution

Lanju deep in the mountains, fresh air, clean mountain springs, quiet environment, do not pollute the environment, otherwise the master is bad. Under artificial cultivation conditions, air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and noise caused by harmful substances such as sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride and dust are the important reasons for the poor growth of orchids.
