Although the roots of aerial orchids can absorb nitrogen in the air, reasonable fertilization is also very important for the growth of orchids, which can make orchids grow faster, plants more robust and flowers more colorful. However, improper fertilization, especially excessive fertilizer, will lead to rotting roots and, in serious cases, plant death. Therefore, mastering the essentials of fertilization is an indispensable skill for an orchid farmer. The types of fertilizers can be divided into two categories: organic fertilizers and non-base fertilizers. The fertilizers suitable for orchids are as follows:

The main results are as follows: (1) Peanut bran is a commonly used farm fertilizer, which is first broken and fermented in water, then the residue is picked up and sprinkled on the surface of potted native orchid, or the fermented liquid fertilizer can be added 5 times to 10 times of water and drenched for topdressing. Peanut bran will produce stench and mold on the surface during fermentation, which is not suitable for family orchid cultivation, but only suitable for productive orchid cultivation. In addition, all kinds of bran cakes after oil extraction can also be used instead of peanut bran.

(2) Amoy rice water-a kind of liquid fertilizer readily available to the family, which contains a large amount of starch, which is fermented into organic nutrients under the action of bacteria for absorption and application by Lanlin. The application of rice washing water can be used as family orchid fertilization once a week.

(3) compound fertilizer, a commonly used granular fertilizer, which contains uniform nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, is especially suitable for potted orchids. It can be sprinkled directly around the pot and will dissolve when sprinkled and slowly seep into the soil for orchid plants to absorb.

(4) potassium dihydrogen phosphate-solid fertilizer, used as orchid fertilizer, can enhance disease resistance and plant health. When applied, urea can be sprayed on the plant with 1000 times of water, which can have the effect of topdressing outside the root. This kind of fertilizer is especially suitable for epiphytic Cymbidium, which has the advantages of fast absorption and quick effect.

(5) Hyponex-imported hormone-type orchid fertilizer, which contains various trace elements and hormones, can accelerate the metabolism of orchid plants and make the plants stronger and brighter after spraying. However, the price of this fertilizer is higher, and now it can be replaced by some domestic hormone commodity fertilizers, such as Ye Mianbao, Nong Yiqing and so on.

(6) Magic Fertilizer (Masamp)-a kind of fertile fertilizer that promotes the formation of flowers. After applied to the orchid plant, the plant growth was accelerated and the flowering time was earlier, which was the most suitable for productive orchid planting.

In order to achieve reasonable fertilization, it is very important to master the amount of application. Orchids grow slowly and do not absorb much fertilizer, so the so-called thin application, that is, its application concentration is low, generally more than 1000 times better. And diligence is best to use it about once a week. In addition, according to the different growing season, reasonable emphasis should be placed on the different contents of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. During the vigorous growth period in spring and summer, more nitrogen fertilizer should be applied, and the effect of properly increasing the content of potassium fertilizer is better. In late summer and early autumn, the orchid plant gradually matured, at this time, the content of potassium fertilizer should be increased and the proportion of nitrogen fertilizer should be reduced in order to promote the vegetative growth to reproductive growth. When the flower bud is formed, the amount of phosphate fertilizer should be increased, which will be beneficial to the differentiation and growth of the flower bud. Fertilization can be stopped completely when it is dormant in winter.
