The Taipei City Government has set up a "government-level inter-bureau prevention and response team" on the 4th. As the epidemic of classical swine fever in Africa has attracted the attention of the Chinese people, the Department of Animal Protection called on the public not to panic if they find that pigs are sick, and once they find that the owners are disposed of at will, they will be punished in accordance with the law, and the loss outweighs the gain.

At more than 11:00 on the 7th, the Taipei City cleaning team found the body of a musk pig weighing about 300kg in the open space in Lane 632, Section 3 of Heping East Road, Daan District. Due to the slight expansion of the pig body and erythema on the abdomen, epidemic prevention personnel of the Taipei Municipal Animal Protection Office urgently came to the scene to take samples to the home health center for inspection and disinfection the environment at the same time. The test results are expected to be released on the 10th.

Lian Yun-ching, head of the epidemic prevention and inspection team of the Taipei Municipal Animal Protection Office, said that after receiving notification from the cleaning team in the morning, she rushed to the scene with personnel from the Environmental Protection Bureau to understand the situation. It is understood that the dead pigs were suspected to be raised by homeless people, and the pig carcasses at the scene were slightly swollen. The abdomen showed erythema, and it was estimated that they had been dead for some time. Immediately after the epidemic prevention personnel arrived at the scene, a blockade was set up, and police officers were sent in and out to assist the control personnel to enter and investigate the identity of the owners.

Lian Yunqing said that although judged by veterinarians at the scene, the appearance of blood accumulation in the abdomen of pigs does not look like the clinical symptoms of African classical swine fever, but is more like the phenomenon of red blood cell blood accumulation in the body after the death of animals. however, at present, pig carcasses are still properly packaged and sent to home sanitation for anatomy and inspection, and at the same time, environmental disinfection of personnel and vehicles at the scene is done to prevent the possibility of virus spread.

The Department of Animal Protection also completed a preliminary epidemic investigation at the same time. Within 3 kilometers of the site, only about 50 pigs were raised on a livestock farm attached to the College of Biological Resources and Agriculture of National Taiwan University. At present, no abnormal situation has been reported, and the farm will be closely monitored for suspicious outbreaks to ensure the biosafety of pig farmers in Taipei City.
