On May 22, I went to Guilin to participate in the sugar orange planting exchange meeting. I gained a lot, learned a lot of new knowledge, and met many citrus technology giants and growers.

However, it is surprising that on such a serious occasion, some people still advocate that Huanglong disease can be treated, and it is also found in the exchange after the meeting that colleagues attending the meeting are also dissatisfied. Because the view that Huanglong disease can be treated will mislead growers, which will not only delay valuable control time, but also allow the disease to spread.

Here, we can only review the characteristics and preventive methods of Huanglong disease, so as to let more people know the common sense about Huanglong disease.

Huanglong disease: incurable!

Citrus Huanglong disease is a destructive infectious disease in citrus, and its pathogen is phloem bacteria. At present, there is no treatment, and what is claimed to be treatable is a lie.

Transmission route of Huanglong disease

Huanglong has two ways of transmission, one is through grafting, the other is citrus planthopper transmission. Citrus planthopper is the only natural vector to spread the disease in the field.

Prevention and treatment of Huanglong disease

1. Agricultural prevention and control

Eradicate Jiuli incense and yellow bark in and around the orchard: root out Rutaceae plants such as Jiuli incense and yellow bark that have been planted in and around the citrus orchard within 3000m.

New shoot treatment: wipe the tip control, put it uniformly, and reduce the food of wood lice.

2. Chemical control

Grasping the five periods of medication in the hair tip throughout the year and controlling the planthopper can effectively reduce the probability of transmission of Huanglong disease.

The main results were as follows: (1) spraying before spring shoot sprouting (February-March) killed the adults of wood lice after overwintering and reduced the population number of the same year. This is the most effective period for killing orchard planthoppers. This is killing one adult planthopper, which is equivalent to killing 300 planthoppers in summer and autumn, because one adult planthopper can lay more than 200 eggs. Choose effective wood lice insecticides in low temperature period, such as cypermethrin + triazophos and so on.

(2) Spring shoot stage (April) selection of pesticides which can effectively control not only citrus planthopper adults and nymphs, but also aphids and whitefly. 20% (isoprocarb + imidacloprid) is available.

(3) the scale insects of wood lice can be controlled together in the summer shoot period (May-June). You can choose 51.5% (chlorpyrifos + cypermethrin) EC.

(4) in the autumn shoot period (July-August), the selection of pesticides in the autumn shoot stage can effectively control not only citrus planthopper adults and nymphs, but also citrus leaf miner moth and rust tick lice. 1000 times of imidacloprid wettable powder + 1500 times of carbosulfan EC.

(5) late autumn shoots and winter shoots (September-December) late autumn shoots extracted from September to early October or winter shoots extracted from mid-late October to January must be sprayed before wiping. 20% (isoprocarb + imidacloprid) EC 2.5% synergistic bifenthrin 2000 times.

3. Treatment of diseased trees.

For diseased trees that have been confirmed to be infected, it is necessary to spray first to kill the adults and nymphs of wood lice on diseased trees to avoid driving them to healthy trees. Then cut down the diseased tree and burn the branches as soon as possible.

After felling, the diseased roots are cleaned up, and in order to prevent the diseased stumps from growing leaves again, the stumps are usually treated with glyphosate, or the stumps are burned with charcoal fire.

Summary

There are many masters who claim to be able to cure Huanglong disease, just like the Tai Chi masters on the Internet, who are so hyped that as soon as they shine their real fists, they will not be knocked down.

Prevention and control of Huanglong disease: planting virus-free seedlings, dealing with planthoppers throughout the year, finding and cutting down diseased trees in time is the way to go.
