Rose cuttage work is usually done properly in the following four aspects, and the survival rate of rose cuttings is very high.

First, the substrate used in cutting and the disinfection of rose cuttings. After cutting the rose cuttings, we have to disinfect them. Usually, the branches are soaked in potassium permanganate solution and carbendazim solution for 10 minutes to get dry water, and the remaining disinfectant is sprayed on the substrate seedling bed used.

Second, to select the substrate, the materials used in cutting rose are usually made of vermiculite, perlite and pure fine river sand. The requirement is not only loose and permeable, but also has a certain degree of hydrophobicity, water retention, fine and soft texture, no humus material is better. There is also a single pure fine sand as cutting substrate, but the water retention is not as good as vermiculite and perlite. It also needs to be sterilized.

Third, branch selection, rose cuttings are usually full of buds in the middle and upper parts of the branches after flowering. These branches shortly after flowering contain a lot of nutrients, which are conducive to wound healing and rooting. Generally cut into two leaf nodes into a section, cut off the lower leaves, leaving only the upper two or three leaflets. The lower end of the branch is cut into a horseshoe. The lower end of sterilized branches can be cut after soaking in acetic acid solution for about 20 minutes. In addition, there is a kind of cuttings with heels, which is also easy to take root and survive. It is the stem part with a small section of the previous generation of flower branches at the lower end of the cuttings. As shown in the figure:

Fourth, the cutting operation, when cutting, first use a thin bamboo stick to poke a small hole in the substrate, and then gently insert the rose cuttings into the hole and compaction with your fingers. After the cuttage is finished, the acetic acid solution is poured on the seedbed with proper amount of water, an arched skeleton made of bamboo or steel bar is supported on the seedbed, and then covered with a house of transparent plastic film to moisturize. It can take root and transplant in two months.
