Orchid insect pest: Dendrolimus prickly

Aulacaspis pseudospinosa Chen belongs to Homoptera, Aspididae. Distribution in Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangsu and other places. Harm orchid leaves, in addition to harm Smilax china, palm, nan water.

Description: Female shell nearly round, white, rather thick, slightly raised. Most of them are on the edge, sub-edge and near the center. Grayish yellow or pale yellow, 1.6 ~ 2.0m in length, female adult body long shape, head chest is large, wide than long, front side angle is often absent, if there is, shape blunt round, rear line is much wider than rear chest, rear chest and first abdominal segment width is similar. The second abdominal segment is wider, the third abdominal segment is sharply reduced, and the tail is triangular. The antenna has a flagella. There are about 25 disc gland holes in the front valve and 2 in the rear valve. A group of medium-sized tubular glands was found at the lateral ends of the 2~3 ventral segments. Round scab near the posterior horn of the first abdominal segment. The tail of gluteal plate is narrow and obvious, the middle gluteal leaf is sunken, not very large, the base joint is thinner, the part folded to both sides is wider, the end is round, the inner edge tooth scar is not obvious, the second gluteal leaf is developed, divided into 2 leaflets, and protrudes backward, the end is round. The male shell is oblong, white, with 3 longitudinal ridges on the back, also prominent, molting at the front, grayish yellow, 1.2~ 1.4 mm in length and 0.4 mm in width.

Occurrence rule: The insect is harmful seriously in Guangzhou, almost all the year round, especially in hot and dry weather.

Control methods:

1. When pest infestations are low, use coarse cloth dipped in kerosene to kill.

2. Spraying pesticides regularly, spraying 40% omethoate emulsion 1000 times when the nymph hatches, the effect is better.

3. 20% methamidophos emulsion 500~1300 times solution was used to control various insect stages, especially effective on crawling stage nymph and early adult. (Liu Zhongjian)
