Orchid is an evergreen perennial herbaceous flower of Orchidaceae, which is divided into two categories: terrestrial orchid and aerial orchid.

Aerial orchids are also called epiphytic orchids and foreign orchids. Aerial orchids have aerial roots, large false bulbs, broad leaves, curved or drooping inflorescences, peculiar flowers, rich colors, no fragrance or less fragrance, so they are often used as cut flowers because of their color and shape.

Terrestrial orchid, also known as Chinese orchid, is a traditional species cultivated in China. It is an orchid growing in the soil without aerial roots, with small pseudo-phosphorus stems, narrow and thin leaves, standing inflorescences, graceful leaves and strong flower fragrance. The main varieties of terrestrial orchids widely cultivated in China are as follows:

Chunlan: also known as Gram, leaves narrowly linear, leaf margin denticulate, leaf veins obvious, root fleshy, white. Flowers solitary or twin, yellowish green, but also nearly white and purple varieties, elegant fragrance. It blossoms from February to March in early spring. There are many varieties of Cymbidium, usually in the shape of petals, which can be divided into plum petal type, daffodil petal type, butterfly petal type, plain heart petal type and so on.

Cymbidium: also known as Cymbidium, the leaves are linear, wider and longer than Chunlan, erect and rough. The flower consists of 13 racemes, yellowish, with white lips, with purplish red spots and strong fragrance. The florescence is from April to May.

Jianlan: also known as Qiulan, the leaf belt is about 50 cm long, and the leaf edge is not serrated. The flowers consist of 12 racemes of 6Mel. Yellowish green to yellowish brown, with dark purple stripes, strong fragrance, florescence from August to September.

Ink orchid: also known as orchid, the leaf length is up to 60mi 80cm, broad, thick and smooth, tall and straight nearly upright. 10 flowers per scape, dark in color, with purple-brown stripes, light fragrance, blooming before and after the Spring Festival.

Symbiotic: also known as Honeybee orchid, the leaves are short, wide and smooth. The scape is oblique, shorter than the leaf, with 20 flowers per scape, the flower shape is small and dense, the outer petal is reddish brown, without fragrance, and blossoms from winter to early spring.

Han Lan: Ye Xiang Jian Lan; narrow and upright. The scape is thin and erect, with 7 flowers on it, with narrow petals, green, purple, pink, white, yellow and other colors, fragrant, blooming in winter and spring.

Rabbit ear: the leaf is short, narrowly oval, with a long handle at the base, flowers climbing about 20 cm, 6 flowers, light green with light fragrance, lip inconspicuous, 3-lobed, central lobe reversing, white with purple spots, florescence from May to July.

Terrestrial orchids like warm and moist climatic conditions, do not require high soil water content, but require high soil moisture. Orchids belong to fleshy whisker roots, the rhizomes also grow underground, and the rhizomes symbiotic with the newspaper line also need good aeration conditions. if the soil moisture is too much, it will not only grow poorly, but also die sometimes.
