When should the propagation of orchids be carried out?
Orchid ramets should be propagated in the late dormant period, preferably before the new buds have formed, but not yet elongated, because dormant plants do not need too much water and nutrients, after ramets with warm weather, the arrival of growth period, growth potential is gradually vigorous, the plant is easy to survive. Orchids dormancy period is generally in winter, so spring February to March for the best time to plant, but for orchids born in colder areas, the time to plant can be later. In order to make it easier for the plants to survive and grow, the flower buds of the species flowering in spring should be cut off to avoid consuming nutrients. If you want to see flowers and plant propagation, you have to put the time of plant division into the autumn after October, that is, the early dormant period. Only species that are very easy to cultivate and that are very vigorous can be divided and propagated at other times.
