Li Jiayang: vigorously promoting the Development of Modern Agriculture in the West and Agriculture in Central Asia
From July 20 to 23, Li Jiayang, vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, went to Aksu, Changji, Shihezi, Xinjiang, and other places to investigate and discuss with scientific and technological personnel of Tarim University, Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Xinjiang Academy of Animal Sciences, and Xinjiang Academy of Land Reclamation. During the investigation, Li Jiayang held talks with Erkanjiang Tulahong, member of the party committee standing committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, and Tian Wen, vice chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, and signed the "Agreement on Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the people's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region."
At the signing ceremony, Li Jiayang pointed out that the level of agricultural science and technology determines the level of agricultural productivity, and the degree of progress of agricultural science and technology determines the degree of agricultural modernization. Closely centering on the regional situation and superior situation in Xinjiang, the party committee and government of the autonomous region regard agricultural science and technology as an important force in promoting agricultural development and increasing farmers' employment and income, and the support capacity of science and technology and the level of agricultural mechanization have been significantly improved. As the bridgehead facing Central Asia, Xinjiang is the core area of the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt. In particular, Xinjiang and Central Asia are both arid and semi-arid irrigated agro-ecological regions, and the technologies and achievements of agriculture in Xinjiang can be directly applied to Central Asian countries. The signing of an agricultural science and technology cooperation agreement between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region to jointly build the Western Agricultural Research Center and the Central Asian Agricultural Science and Technology Sub-Center of China at the national level is a strategic measure to implement the country's strategic plan for the "large-scale development of the western region" and the "Belt and Road". To promote the development of modern agriculture in Xinjiang and other western regions, and to promote agricultural scientific and technological cooperation between China and Central Asia.
Tian Wen thanked Xinjiang for its long-term assistance and support to Xinjiang in terms of talents, technology, funds, and projects, and for its contributions to the progress of agricultural science and technology and economic and social development in Xinjiang. The proposal further deepens the cooperation between the people's Government of Xinjiang Autonomous region and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. First, the two sides complement each other's advantages to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results; second, accelerate the transformation of achievements to increase the income and wealth of farmers and herdsmen; third, strengthen personnel training and the construction of basic platforms for scientific and technological research, so as to enhance the ability of scientific and technological innovation; fourth, the two sides make concerted efforts to speed up the construction of the "China-Central Asian Science and Technology Cooperation Center."
