Water hyacinth is one of the top ten malignant invasive weeds in the world. Since the beginning of summer this year, water hyacinth has spread rapidly in southern waters, resulting in not only the deterioration of the original habitat of aquatic plants, water swamp and eutrophication, but also a large area of dead fish and crabs.

Wang Yanliang, deputy director of the Science and Education Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and director of the Agricultural Ecology and Resources Protection Station, introduced at the on-site meeting of eradication activities that China has become one of the countries most seriously invaded by alien species in the world, with 529 invasive species, of which more than 100 species occur in a large area and cause serious harm. Since the 1980s, alien species have shown a faster growth trend in China. Nearly 50 new invasive species have been added in the past 10 years, and more than 20 dangerous invasive species have broken out in China one after another. it poses a great threat to China's biodiversity, agriculture and animal husbandry production and people's health, and seriously restricts the ecological security and sustainable development of agriculture in China. As the leading management department of alien species, the Ministry of Agriculture has continuously intensified its work in the face of the severe invasion situation, and has set up the Office of Alien invasive species Management and the Research Center for Prevention and Control of Alien invasive species. The organization drafted the "Alien species Management measures", revised the "Emergency Preparedness Plan for Alien invasive species", and issued the first batch of "National key Management list of Alien invasive species". Organize various localities to carry out background investigation, monitoring and early warning, carry out centralized eradication and scientific and technological research on alien invasive organisms such as Eupatorium adenophorum, water peanut, calyx nigrum, Tribulus terrestris, and improve the information database of alien invasive organisms, formulate emergency prevention and control technical guidelines, establish emergency elimination and removal mechanisms, effectively curb the spread and harm of malignant alien invasive species, and improve the working mechanism for the prevention and control of alien invasive species.

Wang Yanliang pointed out that Chongqing is located in the transitional zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the plain of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with complex geology and geomorphology, numerous mountains and hills, high environmental heterogeneity, abundant hydrothermal conditions, and numerous rivers. with rich and diverse ecosystems and complex ancient biota, biodiversity conservation is of great significance.
