According to the monthly statistics of 20 major fishery provinces across the country, the national aquatic product output from January to June was 26.1638 million tons, an increase of 3.40 percent over the same period last year, of which aquaculture production was 20.305 million tons, up 4.43 percent over the same period last year, and fishing production was 5.8588 million tons, down 0.03 percent from the same period last year. According to another survey, the bright spot in the development of the offshore fishing industry is outstanding. The total output in the first quarter was 476600 tons, an increase of 64 percent over the same period last year. The benefits of putting 329 new ocean-going fishing vessels into operation last year began to show. According to statistics on the transactions of 47 comparable wholesale markets for aquatic products, the turnover of aquatic products in the first half of 2014 was 3.5953 million tons, an increase of 2.92 percent over the same period last year, and the turnover was 78.704 billion yuan, an increase of 9.29 percent over the same period last year.

The aquaculture area increased steadily. The aquaculture area is 7.6298 million hectares, an increase of 3.81% over the same period last year. Of these, the area of mariculture was 1.5957 million hectares, a decrease of 0.88 percent over the same period last year, and the area of freshwater culture was 6.325 million hectares, an increase of 5.07 percent over the same period last year. Of the freshwater aquaculture area, the pond culture area is 2.6698 million hectares, an increase of 3.17% over the same period last year.

III. Prices of aquatic products are generally stable

In the first half of this year, the aquatic products market was basically stable. Although sales of famous, special and high-quality products decreased and prices dropped due to the downward pressure of the economy and the policy environment, the trading of bulk products was still active, and the overall purchase and sale of the market was booming. According to the transaction price statistics of 80 aquatic products wholesale markets across the country, the comprehensive average prices of aquatic products wholesale markets are generally stable, but the prices of individual varieties rise and fall greatly. The comprehensive average price of aquatic products wholesale market in the first half of 2014 was 22.42 yuan / kg, up 3.71% from the same period last year. Among them, the comprehensive average price of seawater products was 41.52 yuan / kg, up 4.16% over the same period last year, and the comprehensive average price of freshwater products was 15.09 yuan / kg, up 3.18% over the same period last year. Of the 49 varieties monitored, the prices of 34 varieties rose or remained flat compared with the same period last year; the prices of 15 varieties decreased year-on-year, of which 4 varieties fell by more than 10%. The more obvious ones, such as abalone, continued to decline due to increased production and reduced consumption, and prices fell by 22.4% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year.

Affected by the high base factor of arbitrage trade in the same period in 2013, the export data of aquatic products showed a downward trend at the beginning of the year. According to customs statistics, the total import and export volume of aquatic products in the first half of the year was 4.1403 million tons, with a total import and export volume of 14.401 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.98 per cent and 5.06 per cent respectively over the same period last year. Of this total, exports were 1.8645 million tons, down 0.7 percent from the same period last year, exports were 9.815 billion US dollars, up 2.3 percent from the same period last year; imports were 2.2758 million tons, and imports were 4.585 billion US dollars, up 10.14 percent and 11.51 percent respectively.

All localities attach great importance to fishery safety supervision and strengthen the quality and safety management of aquatic products, ensuring that there are no major and serious fishery safety accidents during the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, May Day, Dragon Boat Festival and other major festivals. the situation of fishery safety production remained stable in the first half of the year. From January to June, a total of 87 fishing ship accidents occurred nationwide, with 86 people dead (missing), a decrease of 14.5 and 51 respectively compared with the same period last year. Among them, there were 75 safety accidents in aquatic production of fishing vessels, with 61 deaths (missing), a decrease of 11 and 27 respectively compared with the same period last year; 4 water traffic accidents and 11 deaths (missing), a decrease of 2.5 and 27 respectively compared with the same period last year; 7 natural disaster accidents, 6 deaths (missing), 2 fewer than the same period last year, 5 fewer respectively There was one special ship accident, resulting in 8 deaths (missing), an increase of 1 and 8 respectively over the same period last year.

In the second half of the year, bulk freshwater products will be concentrated on the market, and prices will also decline in accordance with the rules of previous years, but prices are expected to be higher than those of the same period last year due to rising production costs. The consumption environment of famous, special and high-quality products has not improved significantly, and prices may remain low. However, in view of the fact that the scale of fishery production in China has remained relatively stable for many years, the supply of aquatic products is guaranteed without the influence of major natural disasters and emergencies, and the annual output of aquatic products is expected to reach more than 63 million tons.
