Cultivate bottle orchids
The flower of bottle orchid is shaped like a bottle and smells like orchid, so it is called "bottle orchid". The leaves of the bottle orchid are oval or Obovate, the color is green, the surface is shiny, the fruit is oval, orange-red after maturity, plus a long stalk, like a golden pill hanging, and does not fall off for a long time, very attractive, is a high-grade ornamental fruit tree species.
The bottle orchid is warm and moist, cold-resistant and easy to blossom and bear fruit in a sunny environment. The sun is strong in summer. If you take proper shade, you can make the leaves greener.
The soil of potted bottle orchids can be made of fertile and loose rotten leaf soil or pastoral soil mixed with 10% sandy soil, and the pot bottom is first padded with broken tiles to ensure ventilation and water permeability. Potted flowers can be placed in warm and sunny places at ordinary times, and pay attention to shade in summer. Watering frequently during the growing period, keep the basin soil moist, too dry or water stains are not conducive to the growth of flowers. Cake fertilizer and water are applied every two weeks in summer and autumn, and some phosphate fertilizer can be properly applied at full flowering stage to facilitate more flowering and fruiting.
The propagation of bottle orchid often uses the sowing method, which can pick the ripe fruit of the year, remove the pulp, dry it in the shade, preserve it in clean fine sand, and sow it in February-March of the following spring. Root insertion and propagation can also be carried out, the sturdy roots can be cut off and transplanted in the sandy soil, and the soil can be kept moist, and it can take root after a month.
