The fishery economy is growing rapidly. In the first half of 2014, the total fishery economic output value of the whole society was 750.188 billion yuan, with an added value of 352.158 billion yuan, an increase of 6.59 percent and 6.35 percent respectively over the same period last year. Of this total, the output value of fishery was 392.097 billion yuan, that of fishery industry and construction industry was 184.157 billion yuan, and that of fishery circulation and service industry was 173.934 billion yuan.

Fishery production has developed steadily. There is an adequate supply of aquatic products. According to the monthly statistics of 20 major fishery provinces across the country, the national output of aquatic products from January to June was 26.1638 million tons, an increase of 3.40% over the same period last year. According to another survey, the bright spot in the development of the offshore fishing industry is outstanding. The total output in the first quarter was 476600 tons, an increase of 64 percent over the same period last year. The benefits of putting 329 new ocean-going fishing vessels into operation last year began to show. According to the transaction statistics of 47 comparable wholesale markets for aquatic products, the turnover of aquatic products in the first half of 2014 was 3.5953 million tons, with a turnover of 78.704 billion yuan. The aquaculture area increased steadily. The aquaculture area is 7.6298 million hectares, an increase of 3.81% over the same period last year. Among them, the mariculture area is 1.5957 million hectares and the freshwater culture area is 6.325 million hectares.

The price of aquatic products is generally stable. In the first half of this year, the aquatic products market was basically stable. Although sales of famous, special and high-quality products decreased and prices dropped due to the downward pressure of the economy and the policy environment, the trading of bulk products was still active, and the overall purchase and sale of the market was booming. According to the transaction price statistics of 80 aquatic products wholesale markets across the country, the comprehensive average prices of aquatic products wholesale markets are generally stable, but the prices of individual varieties rise and fall greatly. The comprehensive average price of aquatic products wholesale market in the first half of 2014 was 22.42 yuan / kg, up 3.71% from the same period last year.

Trade in aquatic products has stabilized and rebounded. Affected by the high base factor of arbitrage trade in the same period in 2013, the export data of aquatic products showed a downward trend at the beginning of the year. However, after entering March, there began to be a significant rebound, and aquatic products trade stabilized and rebounded. According to customs statistics, the total import and export volume of aquatic products in the first half of the year was 4.1403 million tons, with a total import and export volume of 14.401 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.98 per cent and 5.06 per cent respectively over the same period last year.

The fishery security situation is good. All localities attach great importance to fishery safety supervision and strengthen the quality and safety management of aquatic products, ensuring that there are no major fishery safety accidents during the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, May Day, Dragon Boat Festival and other major festivals. the situation of fishery safety production remained stable in the first half of the year. From January to June, a total of 87 fishing ship accidents occurred nationwide, with 86 people dead (missing), a decrease of 14.5 and 51 respectively compared with the same period last year.
