[cultivation]

According to the author's practice of cultivating orchids for several years, it is considered that potted spring orchids are good at the end of autumn. If the Chunlan plant, which has been purchased from the market for many days, is mailed by Hekou Yuan, most of these plants have been damaged, especially the root damage of Chunlan. Such an orchid plant is cleaned and trimmed. After disinfecting the roots and stems and leaves, and then implanting them into the orchid basin, after a winter of recovery and growth, they will still grow fat, leafy and blossom in early spring. The author now briefly introduces the methods of planting, cultivation and management as follows:

I. cleaning, disinfection and refurbishment of orchid plants

After soaking the Chunlan plant for a long time in a clear water basin for 4-8 hours, the orchid root returned to full as before, then the orchid plant was fished out, slightly dried, the withered, diseased, broken and rotten orchid root was trimmed, and the withered, yellow and dry leaves of the plant were trimmed, and then disinfected in potassium permanganate aqueous solution for half an hour. Take it out and dry it for planting.

2. Soil for basin selection

The orchid basin is best to use the new tile basin, but it should be soaked in clear water for several hours before it can be used. If you use an old tile basin, it must be cleaned and disinfected before use. The size of the pot is suitable for the orchid root to be put into the basin to stretch out, and the orchid mud sold in the flower market is the best. If not, half of the self-made rotten leaf soil and vegetable garden soil can be used, and then mixed with an appropriate amount of sand the size of wheat grains or cinder grains and sawdust mixed culture soil, this kind of soil contains slightly acidic and good permeability. Never use saline-alkali soil.

3. Potted cultivation

First put tiles on the hole at the bottom of the basin, and then lay a layer of coarse sand or coarse cinder to facilitate drainage and ventilation. Spread a layer of culture soil on it, then sit the cymbidium plant on the basin soil, straighten out the root naturally, gently lift the orchid plant in the middle of the filling, gently shake the flowerpot at the same time, make the orchid root closely combine with the pot soil, and then continue to fill the soil to the edge of the basin, gently press the basin soil, and leave the 3cm nozzle on the edge of the basin, so that the fertilizer application and watering do not flow out of the basin.

IV. Maintenance

After a good basin, first of all to water a permeable, put half a month to see the sun and warm place slow seedlings, maintenance half a month or so can restore vitality. When the weather turns cold, you can take the basin end to the indoor sunny place for maintenance and management. Stay indoors against the cold throughout winter and early spring. During the winter, the indoor temperature should not be too high, as long as the room temperature is kept below 10 ℃ and above 0 ℃, it can grow vigorously, bud and blossom normally.

V. proper watering and fertilization

After being watered for the first time after spring orchid planting, depending on the dry and wet condition of the basin soil, we should generally grasp the principle of "seeing wet". Watering should be less in winter and keeping the basin soil slightly moist at ordinary times. Water only once unless it is dry on the basin. Watering should be around noon, when the water temperature should be the same or similar to the room temperature, slowly watering along the edge of the basin, do not drench the leaf surface and leaf center, so as to avoid rotten flower heart. Orchids usually do not apply thick fertilizer, especially newly planted orchids, generally should not be fertilized within a year, to 1-2 years of cultivation, until the new roots are dense and strong, the plant growth is exuberant, can apply thin fertilizer liquid. Fertilizer application should be carried out in the evening, fertilizer and water should also be watered along the edge of the basin soil, do not stain orchid leaves, after fertilizer, the next morning and then drenched with clean water to facilitate the absorption of fertilizer.

VI. Shu Lei

If the original spring orchid plant has more buds, it should be properly thinned before planting pot soil, generally leaving 2-3 buds, leaving more empty plant nutrients, affecting the normal growth of the orchid plant. During the Spring Festival or early spring, the green leaves of the orchid are green, the buds are blooming, and the fragrance is overflowing with fragrance, which adds a lot of color to the festival.
