On August 3, a farmer watered corn crops in Anzhuang Village, Wangdu County, Hebei Province. A few days ago, the reporter learned that the drought-affected area of crops in Hebei Province reached 15.6 million mu.

Beijing, August 4 (Reporter Qiao Jinliang) according to the dispatch of the Ministry of Agriculture on August 4, more than 64.2 million mu of farmland have been affected by drought, including 17 million mu of severe drought. Henan Province, where the drought is the worst, has a drought area of more than 25.8 million mu and a severe drought area of more than 7.3 million mu. In order to promote agricultural science to fight drought, today, the Ministry of Agriculture and the China Meteorological Administration jointly organized relevant experts to discuss the recent precipitation in arid areas and future weather trends. The meeting held that at present, most of the main producing areas, such as the Northeast and the Yangtze River Basin, have sufficient soil moisture, the growth process of autumn grain is normal, and the growth is generally good. However, Huang-Huai-Hai and southern Shaanxi have high temperature and little rain, and the drought in some areas is relatively serious. it is expected that most of the dry areas in early August will be sunny, hot and hot, and the drought will continue, and the task of agricultural drought relief will be arduous; rainfall in arid areas will increase in mid-late August, and the drought will be alleviated one after another.

Recently, rainfall has occurred in some areas, but the drought in heavy drought areas has not been alleviated. From June to July, the precipitation in most of North China, Huang-Huai, Jianghan, Jianghan, south-central Shaanxi and southeastern Gansu is generally 20 to 50 percent less, the temperature is on the high side, and the drought is developing rapidly. The heavy arid areas are mainly concentrated in the traditional arid areas to the north of the Huaihe River and the south of the Yellow River, as well as the old arid areas in the northwest and Inner Mongolia.

It is expected that there will be more sunny, hot and hot weather in Henan, Hubei, southern Shaanxi, northern Anhui and other arid areas in early August, and the drought will continue. At present, the silking of corn and the heading and flowering of rice are the critical period of growth, development and yield formation. the sustainable development of drought will affect the production of autumn grain in heavy drought areas, and the task of drought-resistant watering is heavy.

The meeting held that the drought is regional and has an impact on local autumn grain production, but the growth process of most of the main autumn grain producing areas in Northeast China and the Yangtze River Basin is normal and the growth is generally good. At present, the unaffected areas of the drought-stricken provinces have high temperature and sufficient light, and autumn grain crops such as corn are growing well, and can also offset some of the disaster losses. The meeting pointed out that it is necessary to unswervingly stabilize the goal of increasing grain income, gain a bumper harvest based on disaster resistance, implement various drought relief measures, and strive to reduce production in heavy drought areas, not in light drought areas, and increase production in non-drought areas, and make every effort to win a bumper harvest of autumn grain.

According to reports, on the basis of the five drought relief working groups sent by the Ministry of Agriculture to Henan, Shaanxi, Anhui and other provinces, three working groups were dispatched again today to Hebei, Hubei, Inner Mongolia and other heavy drought areas to guide the work of drought relief, autumn grain and livestock conservation.
