Step 2: Prepare a pair of scissors, a flower shovel, a bamboo chip, and the watering tools you need.

Step 3: Prepare the cultivation soil, pots, gaskets and other materials required for turning the pots.

Step 4: Do a good job of grouping students.

Second, the specific operation exercises before turning the basin

Operation demonstration of the whole process of turning over the basin

Step 1: Remove the bowl. When taking off the basin, tap the basin around with your palm, then hold the stump basin with your hand and push it out from the drain hole with the fingers of your other hand. If you encounter a basin with a rolled edge, you should hollow out the soil around the edge of the basin. For stumps that are difficult to take off, you can also turn the pot upside down and hang it down along the edge of the pot. As shown in Figure 1.

Step 2: Go to Old Earth. After the basin is removed, whether it is a larger basin or the original basin, part of the old soil should be removed. As for the amount of soil removed, generally speaking, small pots for large pots less to some, less roots to some, the original pot for more soil to some, but can not exceed the original pot soil 12. as shown in figure 2.

Step 3: Cut the roots. After removing the old soil, the roots can be cut short or thin according to the development of the roots. For example, black pine, June snow, money pine and other downward extension of the taproot, each year will give birth to a ring of roots in the bottom of the pot, this ring of roots should be cut off. Buxus, Podocarpus and other taproot downward extension is more obvious, as long as the old roots around the cut off part of it. Root cutting should also be a check on the root system, dry roots, diseased roots, over-dense roots, too long roots should be pruned. Figure 3 shows the approximate location of the shear line.

Step 4: Put on the basin. After selecting the appropriate basin, fill the basin bottom with broken basin pieces or plastic mesh to facilitate drainage and water permeability. In case of large pots, deep pots should be filled with more broken pots; micro pots, shallow pots can be padded with a plastic mesh. Then fill a layer of coarse grained soil, plant the stump, add new culture soil around it, gently press the pot soil with your hands while putting it (Figure 4) , or fill the soil with a wooden stick. The purpose is to tightly combine the new soil with the old soil, and do not leave a gap. The pot soil is added to 2~3 cm below the pot mouth, commonly known as "water gap".

In the watering process sometimes there will be basin soil depression, should be filled in time, but do not use hands to pressure or stir basin soil, otherwise, basin soil will harden after drying. In case of small basin, shallow basin available immersion method. After watering thoroughly, it is best to put the bonsai in the shade for more than ten days, and then place it in the sun after the bonsai growth potential recovers.
