The number of land violations increased by 27.7% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year.
According to land and resources statistics released by the Ministry of Land and Resources for the first half of 2014, a total of 28510 land violations were found nationwide, involving a land area of 11256.9 hectares, an increase of 27.7% and 18.9% respectively over the same period last year.
The relevant responsible person of the Ministry of Land and Resources said that the main reason for the illegal cases and the increase in land area involved is that there are many illegal land and large areas for basic and resource construction projects in the western region since May; some provinces in the eastern region have carried out special clean-up work on illegal land, and a large number of illegal land have been newly discovered and dealt with. In addition, a total of 1915 illegal cases of mineral resources were investigated and dealt with nationwide, down 12.9% from the same period last year.
