Application skills of Lime in Orchid cultivation and Management

I. Choice of lime

The choice of high-quality lime should start from the following two aspects:

1. Visual inspection. Through visual inspection, we can see that the large blocks are white or slightly yellow, and the appearance is not weathered for high-quality lime blocks.

2, feel. This is very important in selecting high quality lime blocks, the lighter the lime block feels in the hand, the better (compared to other lime blocks of the same size), the lighter the weight, the higher the purity. On the contrary, heavy ones are not fully burned in the combustion process, and the impurity content is relatively high, so it is not advisable.

II. Preparation and use of lime clarification solution

1, first of all to high-quality lime block water leaching or leaching into powder, and then take pure lime powder 1:10 times into an aqueous solution (just water leaching lime powder must not be taken quickly, for safety reasons to wait for natural cooling to take it), soak for about 12 hours after full decomposition, you can carefully take out its clear solution. Note that when taking the clarified liquid, the surface of the clarified liquid will solidify as a layer of crystals like thin ice. This is a high-purity alkali substance crystals, not desirable. Moreover, this crystal is not easy to dissolve in the water at the back, once it enters the leaf center of the tender tissue, it will produce phytotoxicity, and it is easy to block the nozzle hole, so it is discarded.

2. Take lime clarification stock solution 1:2000 times to form water agent, irrigate the whole basin of matrix in the rainy season of high temperature and high humidity, and spray the whole orchid room and orchid field to fully cover the agent, so as to suppress or kill the fungi that like to live in acidic environment in large area. Therefore, the use of the two times at intervals in the plum rain season with high temperature and humidity can effectively control the occurrence of stem rot, soft rot and white silk disease. The large orchid field generally uses powdery lime thrown on the ground to block the pathogenic bacteria on the ground, but this operation is highly polluting and easy to pollute the orchid leaves and cause damage to the orchid leaves, so it is not advisable.

III. Precautions:

Lime clarification solution water solvent is pure alkaline, so it can not be mixed with any acidic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers.

2, lime clarification solution water solvent alkali purity is high, to ensure that the water is more than 2000 times, a little more water without prevention, must not arbitrarily reduce the amount of water.

This agent is also effective only for fungi that prefer to survive in acidic environments, with the aim of "prevention first".

The above is for reference only. This lime leaching solution is not a panacea, let alone long-term dependence. Please use it alternately in cultivation management. this will reduce the possibility of fungus resistance and alkaline transformation of culture medium.
