The root of orchid has the function of absorbing nutrients, water and oxygen. In order to keep loose and breathable, we often need to pad some tiles, bricks and so on, in order to be breathable and conducive to growth. Using loose and rotten wood blocks to cushion the basin, orchid germination and growth have a better effect.

Rotten wood cushion basin has the following advantages:

1. The looseness of wood is more beneficial to ventilation.

2. The loose wood has a certain function of absorbing water and moisturizing like a sponge, which can prevent the dryness and sudden wetting of the cultivated soil and maintain a good growth environment of orchids, especially suitable for balcony maintenance.

3. Using rotten wood to cushion the basin is lighter than brick and tile cushion.

Rotten wood cushion basin should pay attention to the following:

1. Rotten wood with loose wood should be selected;

2. Rotten wood must be corroded thoroughly, otherwise it will burn roots.

3. Rotten wood blocks should not be too small, preferably 4 to 6 centimeters square.
