Five years of continuous drought in Hubei Province

Since the ambush, most parts of Hubei have maintained sunny, hot and hot weather. Northern and central Hubei have entered the fifth year of lack of water and rain. 7.852 million mu of farmland in 11 cities, including Xiangyang, Jingmen and Xiaogan, have been affected by drought, and 654000 people have difficulty in drinking water. Recently, the Hubei Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued the first red warning signal for drought this year, initiating a level 4 emergency response to drought. It is expected that in the coming week, most parts of Hubei will still maintain sunny, hot and hot weather, and the agricultural drought will become more serious.

In order to ensure normal living water for empty nesters and households living alone in the mountains, on July 23, the militia and villagers in Xiatang Town spontaneously set up a "Love Water supply team" to draw water at the water source provided by the villagers free of charge. the water delivery team rides motorcycles to deliver water to the old and weak families with difficulties in draught, and they often have to carry 30 kilograms of buckets back and forth to climb 3 kilometers of mountain roads in their hands before they can be delivered to the elderly's homes. Since July, 12 provinces and regions, including Henan, Shandong, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Xinjiang, have experienced severe drought, drying up reservoirs and rivers, making it difficult for people and livestock to drink water, and local autumn grain crops may face a situation of no harvest. The drought, which lasted for many days and affected more than 58 million mu of crops, is spreading rapidly, causing widespread concern at home and abroad.

Nearly 8 million mu of crops in Liaoning have been affected by drought.

According to the State General Administration of Prevention and Control, a serious drought occurred in Shandong, Jiangsu, Liaoning and other places. Recently, the drought in Dalian, Fuxin, Huludao, Jinzhou and other places in Liaoning has further intensified. At present, the drought-affected crop area of the province is 7.99 million mu, with 81600 people and 15800 head of large livestock suffering from temporary drinking water difficulties. According to a person in charge of the Liaoning Provincial Flood Control and drought Relief headquarters, since July, the average precipitation in Liaoning Province has been 81 mm, 56.8% less than 187.3 mm in the same period in history. The average precipitation in the central and western regions is 49.5mm, 68.7% less than that of 158.2 mm in the same period in history. At present, the drought area of crops in Liaoning Province is 7.99 million mu, of which Fuxin City is affected by drought area of 3.17 million mu.

Henan suffered the worst drought in 63 years

Recently, the drought in key drought-affected areas such as Pingdingshan, Xuchang and Nanyang in Henan Province has continued to worsen. With the continuous reduction of water sources, the number of people with temporary drinking water difficulties has increased sharply. The average precipitation in Henan province is the lowest in the same period since 1951, and it is suffering from the worst drought in 63 years. As of August 4, the drought-affected area of Henan Province reached 27.14 million mu, of which 8.63 million mu were severely drought, with 711000 people suffering from temporary drinking water difficulties.

According to Yang Biantong, spokesman for the office of Henan Flood Control and drought Relief headquarters, since June, the average precipitation in Henan Province has been 59% less than the average for the same period of many years. Due to the lack of effective precipitation, the river runoff continues to decrease, more than 50% of the small and medium-sized rivers are cut off, coupled with the high water consumption for drought resistance, the water storage capacity of large and medium-sized reservoirs in Henan is only 2.64 billion cubic meters. The storage is 1.334 billion cubic meters less than the historical average for the same period, and 35% of the small reservoirs are basically dry.

230000 square kilometers of available grasslands are affected by drought

According to statistics, the area of crops affected by drought in Inner Mongolia reached 1520 mu, of which 7 million mu were seriously affected by drought. The drought has caused drinking water difficulties for 390000 people and more than 2.5 million head of livestock in the region, and more than 180 reservoirs have dried up. Nearly 230000 square kilometers of available pastures in the western pastoral areas have been seriously affected by drought, and more than 50, 000 farmers and herdsmen rely on long-distance water to solve the basic domestic water for people and livestock. According to preliminary estimates, the forage yield in the central and western pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia has been reduced by 30% and 90% compared with the same period in history. At present, the drought mainly occurs in most of Alashan League in Inner Mongolia, the west of Ordos City, the west of Xilingol League, Bayannur City, the north of Baotou City, the east and north of Wulanchabu City, Chifeng City and parts of Hohhot City.

scene

The leaves are dry enough to catch fire!

There are no green "white stubble", wells that can't get out of the water, tricycles that pull water.

Henan: the dead storage capacity of the reservoir has been used.

The reporter recently saw a large area of "white stubble" under the scorching sun in the hard-hit Pingdingshan area. The autumn grain crops sown after wheat harvest have not emerged, and a piece of wheat stubble is hard to see green. Yu Guochao, a villager of Xinzhuang Village in Baofeng County, said helplessly: "it has been planted and has been waiting for rain. as a result, up to now, not a single corn has come out."

In Xiniu Village, Zhouzhuang Town, Baofeng County, the reporter saw that in order to water corn, villagers in Huimin set up tents on the ground. "during this period of time, we stayed in the field and watered it day and night." But the weak groundwater is difficult to maintain thirsty land, the pump is pumping up a large number of air bubbles, "how much it can be watered now."

Drought has caused difficulties in drinking water for people and livestock in some areas. In Houling Village, Zhouzhuang Town, villager Zhao Mei pointed to the rusty well mouth in her yard and said, "I haven't been able to pump water for two or three months." I am more than 60 years old, and I have never experienced such a drought as this year since I can remember. " Villager Chen Shufen is tidying up four or five large plastic buckets containing water in the car. For her, the most important thing every day is to ride an electric tricycle to the town to pull water. "A family of five and feeding several big animals have to pull three times a day." According to Dai Deshan, director of the Baofeng County Water Resources Bureau, there are about 60,000 people and 40,000 large livestock in the county with drinking water difficulties.

It is not only agricultural water that is affected by the drought. Baiguishan Reservoir, the water source of Pingdingshan, has bottomed out. Liu Yongqiang, deputy director of the Reservoir Flood Control Office, said that the amount of water available to the reservoir is now 120 million cubic meters less than in previous years. "this is close to the annual water supply to Pingdingshan City. On July 29th, the Provincial Water Resources Department approved the use of 6.41 million cubic meters of dead storage capacity, which is expected to supply water for more than 10 days. This is the second time this year that the dead storage capacity has been used. "

Shaanxi: summer corn dries up

"you see, the leaves are dry enough to catch fire!" Zhu Shanhuai, 64, of Xiaoliyuan Village, Guofenglou Town, Shangnan County, Shaanxi Province, pointed to his 2 mu of corn that had dried up.

This is the rare drought in Shangnan County in 88 years since hydrological records began in 1926. Zhu Shanhuai said that he had never experienced such a dry summer, which not only lasted a long time, but also had a large area.

In Xiaoliyuan Village, the reporter saw that the leaves of summer corn had withered and yellow before the mature season, and they looked yellow from afar. Most corncobs are stunted, and the kernels are withered and stick to the cob. More seriously, there are only two or three grains of corn on the corncob.

In addition to crops, there are people who are "affected by drought". In Chaoyang District, Shangnan County, Huang Xueying, 32, climbed from the first floor to the sixth floor with two buckets of water on a pole. She said that the temporary water supply truck sent by the county water bureau will supply water to the community from 3 pm to 7 pm every day. "We are now very economical in using water. Face washing water, vegetable washing water and laundry water are all reserved for flushing the toilet. Now we know the value of water."

Inner Mongolia: sunflower roots break with a slight 90% discount

"the roots of some crops such as sunflowers have dried up, and they will break as lightly as 90% discount like dry firewood." The reporter learned during an interview in Yaopo Village, Sanchakou Township, right-wing Qianqi, Wulanchabu City, that there has been no effective rainfall for more than 40 days in a row. Gao Yinkui, a villager of Yaopo Village, said: "from June to now, there has been basically no rain here, the land has hardened badly, and the groundwater table has dropped by about 20 meters."

The reporter learned at the scene that due to the persistent drought, some farmers in Yaopo village had difficulties in drinking water, so they had to drive tractors to the nearby water collection point to draw water; all the local mechanical and electrical wells were opened to irrigate the arable land around the clock. Bai Yonglong, a villager in Yaopo Village, said: "due to the drop in the groundwater level, our family's motor well is insufficient and can irrigate more than 10 mu of arable land every day. Now we have no choice but to continuously irrigate it."

Affected by the persistent drought, the dryland crops planted by local farmers, such as flax and soybeans, have withered, and farmers have no choice but to plough the land ahead of time and wait for replanting next year; the sunflower root leaves planted in irrigated land have dried up, the upper leaves have withered, and the diameter of the disk is obviously much smaller.

Artificial precipitation in Henan Province likes to fall with rain

With the loud whistling sound, rain-increasing rockets rose into the sky, ushering in the god of rain accompanied by thunder. The reporter learned from the Henan Meteorological Bureau that since the early morning of August 6, the meteorological department has carried out artificial precipitation enhancement operations on the ground in Pingdingshan, Nanyang, Sanmenxia and other places in Henan Province, where drought is serious, alleviating the bitterness of baking in some areas.

In Pingdingshan City, which was hardest hit by drought, a short-term strong convective thunderstorm occurred from 9 to 10:00 on August 6. Pingdingshan Meteorological Observatory seized the favorable opportunity to successfully organize and implement an artificial rain enhancement operation. The city has used a total of 12 anti-hail anti-hail guns, 2 sets of rocket launch systems, and more than 50 operators, firing a total of 286 rain bombs and 11 rockets, increasing the precipitation in the process.

In addition, artificial precipitation enhancement operations were carried out in Nanyang, Sanmenxia, Luoyang and other places in Henan Province from the early morning of August 6 to 7: 00 am. The operation fired a total of 20437 shadow projectiles and 56 rockets, with a cumulative impact area of about 6000 square kilometers. From 8 to 17:00 on the same day, Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Pingdingshan and Jiyuan also carried out artificial rain enhancement operations on the ground, firing 37 types of shadow projectiles, 26 rockets, and 41 silver iodide cigarette bars on the ground, affecting a cumulative area of 7000 square kilometers.
