Last Updated: 2024/12/23, Orchids have always been a symbol of nobility and elegance, and they are a kind of flowers that many florists like to maintain. But there are very few people who raise orchids well. Today, Huahua will introduce you how to maintain orchids and make orchids grow better.

Potted soil

"Fish and water, orchid and soil." It shows the importance of soil for the growth of orchids, which is also the most concerned problem for orchid farmers. Huahua introduces several secret recipes for the preparation of potted soil to ensure that the orchids bloom more and more.

1. Rotten leaf soil + grain husk + honeycomb cinder

The rotten leaf soil, rotten grain hull and honeycomb cinder were prepared according to the proportion of 2:1:1. Break the honeycomb coal, wash it with water, mix and dry for 2 days. This kind of soil is not easy to consolidate, has good fertility, and orchids tend to have strong roots.

2. Coconut bran + cinder

Mix coconut bran and cinder at 1:1. The coconut bran is thicker and fermented, and the cinder is treated with water. This kind of soil has good air permeability and is suitable for orchids with weak roots.

Watering chapter

As the saying goes, planting orchids can be watered for three years. Watering is an old topic, but whether watering is correct or not is related to the success or failure of orchid cultivation.

1. Prophase of flowering

When the temperature is about 20-25 degrees in spring, the orchids can be sprayed with water every 2-3 days and watered once a week before blooming. Too much water will make the orchid plant grow, and it is not easy to grow buds. Due to lack of moisture, orchids are easy to pinch.

2. Flowering period

If the orchid is to bloom more beautifully, the water must be controlled during flowering. When the scape of the orchid is elongated and the stamens are about to take off, water the orchid once. The orchid in this way is beautiful in appearance and has a long flowering period.

3. Daily maintenance

Follow the principle that if you don't dry or water, you must water thoroughly. The bamboo stick can be inserted into the soil for 10 minutes, and then pulled out. If the surface of the bamboo stick is dry, it needs to be watered thoroughly at one time until there is water flowing out from the bottom of the basin.

Light and temperature section

The light is related to whether the flower color of the orchid is good-looking and whether the leaves are shiny and healthy.

1. Increase the temperature difference

If you want to promote orchid blossom, it is necessary to increase the temperature difference between day and night. 18-21 degrees during the day, 7-10 degrees at night is the most suitable, easy to blossom.

If the temperature is too high at night, the orchid is easy to soften its leaves and drop its flower buds. If the temperature is too low, the leaves are prone to spots.

2. Lighting

In general, orchids need 2 to 3 hours of light. Under normal circumstances, the orchid leaves are bright and strong, dark green and soft, indicating the need for more light, while the yellowish leaves mean less light.

Red, yellow orchids: in the flower bud period, put the orchids on the brightly lit balcony or window, the flowers will be darker.

Green and white orchids: reduce the light intensity when there is a bud, and then increase the light after blooming, which is conducive to the light and elegance of the flowers.

Fertilization chapter

Whether orchids have developed roots, strong plants, and many and beautiful flowers are related to many factors, but fertilization is the most important step.

1. Growth period

About 15% of fully mature thin cake fertilizer water can be applied, or 0.1% urea fertilizer water plus 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate fertilizer water, once every 15-20 days.

2. Flower bud differentiation stage

In the period of flower bud differentiation, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, was applied once every semimonthly, 2-3 times.

3. Florescence

0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be sprayed to the leaves for 2-3 times during flowering to promote the development of roots, stems and flowers.

The upper basin

Putting on the pot can be said to be the most annoying step for flower friends, which is both tedious and easy to hurt the roots of seedlings. Today, Huahua explains to you in detail how to pot it correctly.

1. Root trimming

Before putting on the pot, trim the roots of the orchid, cut off the too long and too short roots, empty roots, black roots, cut roots, each root seedling to retain 3-4 healthy roots.

2. Carbendazim immersion

After pruning, soak the whole orchid in carbendazim solution.

3. Plastic bottles make breathable covers

Poke the hole in the leftover beverage bottle and cut several small triangles at the bottom of the beverage bottle with scissors.

Put it into the bottom of the flowerpot to retain water and avoid stagnant water. Fix the beverage bottle with a plastic foam block.

4. Put the orchid into the pot

Put the orchid seedlings in an appropriate position in the pot, let the false bulb (Reed head) rise about 1 cm above the flowerpot, and add planting material evenly.

5. Beat the flowerpot

Shake the flowerpot or gently pat the flowerpot to make Langen fit more closely with the plant material and avoid producing large holes.

So much for today's knowledge of orchid conservation.
