Recently, heavy rainfall has occurred in most of the eastern part of Northwest China, North China and Huang-Huai, and the drought in central and southern Shaanxi, northwest Henan and southern Hebei has been alleviated, and the drought in Anhui Province has been relieved, but there has been little rain in the arid areas of north-central Hubei, and the drought has developed to some extent.

The reporter learned from the national flood control and drought relief video conference held on the 7th that as of August 7, the drought-affected area of crops in the country was 64.26 million mu (an average of 120 million mu for the same period of many years), 12.47 million mu less than that before rainfall, including 6 million mu in Henan Province, 2.97 million mu in Shaanxi Province, and 2.6 million mu in Hebei Province. There are 1.96 million people and 2.57 million head of large livestock in China suffering from drinking water difficulties due to drought (an average of 10.11 million people and 7.22 million heads in the same period of many years), mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia, Hubei, Henan, Sichuan and other places.

All localities in arid areas have scientifically dispatched water conservancy projects and adopted various measures such as cross-regional water diversion, well drilling, water drawing and water delivery, and the construction of emergency water source projects, so as to ensure the safety of drinking water for people in urban and rural areas and strive to ensure water for agricultural production. According to statistics, since the beginning of summer, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Gansu and other provinces (regions) have invested a total of 9.12 million drought-resistant workers, temporarily solved the drinking water difficulties of 1.68 million people, and irrigated 170 million mu of drought-resistant water.
