A brief history of planting orchids

Orchid is one of the oldest flowers in China. As early as 300 BC, qu Yuan sang about orchids in Lisao, and other ancient books such as Youzhuan, Li Ji and Shi Ji are also recorded. It can be seen that orchid cultivation in China has a history of at least two thousand years.

In China, there are works devoted to orchids after the Southern Song Dynasty; to the Ming Dynasty, the variety of folk orchids has been very rich. Li Shizhen, a medical scientist, has a more complete description of the names and categories of orchids in his masterpiece Compendium of Materia Medica.

To the Qing Dynasty, the cultivation of orchids and further development, at this time a large number of orchids, the cultivation of orchids has a wealth of experience, and there are many special works on orchids, spread so far, still have a certain reference value.

Although orchids have a long history, many precious species were almost destroyed in the old society. After liberation, the cultivation of orchids developed rapidly because the party and government attached great importance to greening.
