After White Dew, many places in China, especially to the north of the Yangtze River, began to enter the real autumn. The highest temperature during the day is generally lower than 30 degrees, and the temperature at night is generally about 20 degrees, which is very suitable for orchids to grow. Orchids have entered another golden season of the year. Autumn precipitation decreases, humidity decreases, the climate is dry, the light is sufficient, and the temperature difference is large. People who raise orchids on the balcony should keep pace with the times and respond actively according to the characteristics of autumn climate, especially pay attention to the following aspects.

First, improve humidity, timely watering, beware of diamond shell dryness. In normal years, the precipitation in autumn decreases obviously, the air humidity decreases, and the weather is dry. Therefore, for those who raise orchids on the balcony, the first task is to improve air humidity. A variety of measures such as sink humidification, ground water spraying, humidifier humidification and other measures can be taken to create an air relative humidity of not less than 40%. In the golden autumn, the sky is high and cloudy, the sun is bright, and the water evaporation is large. The basin soil is easy to dry from the bottom of the basin, forming "diamond shell dryness", affecting the development of flower buds and endangering the root of orchid. In this regard, our predecessors had the old motto of "not doing it in autumn", which is very reasonable. In order to avoid "rhombohedral dryness", Yilan people should be diligent in observing the dry and wet condition of the basin soil, and find that the basin soil is too dry and should be watered thoroughly in order to keep the soil moist and not stained.

Second, increase the light, increase the temperature difference, and promote buds and seedlings. In autumn, the dust in the air is reduced, the transparency is high, the sun is shining brightly, the average temperature is about 22 degrees, and the temperature difference between day and night is about 10 degrees, which is very beneficial to the growth of orchid seedlings. Orchid friends should seize the favorable opportunity, reduce the degree of shade as far as possible, and boldly let orchids receive sufficient light, especially for pots full of strong grass. In the evening, the balcony sliding window should be opened as far as possible so that it can be fully ventilated and maximize the temperature difference between day and night. Practice has proved that the golden autumn orchid to increase light and increase the temperature difference is a shortcut to promote buds and seedlings.

Third, appropriate fertilization for plant materials. In September, Lanhui generally starts to grow strong grass to bud one after another, and the new seedlings grow rapidly and consume a lot of nutrients, so appropriate fertilization is very necessary. However, fertilization can not be one-size-fits-all, need to be flexible according to the situation of plant materials, differential treatment. For those who raise orchids with orchid mud and change pots for less than a year, it is generally not necessary to apply fertilizer, and those who use granular plant materials to raise orchids should apply an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer. Timely fertilization in autumn is good for the sprouting and flowering of orchids in the coming year and should be taken seriously.

Pay attention to ventilation and prevent diseases and insect pests. Lanhui grows rapidly in autumn, and it is also an eventful time for diseases and insect pests. In this season, such as poor ventilation, potted orchids are prone to black spots, thrips, red spiders and other pests also harm the growth of orchids. Preventive measures are to strengthen ventilation, timely spraying drugs for prevention and control, it is best to use lime water or other fungicides to thoroughly clean and disinfect the orchid site, prevention and control, in order to put an end to the occurrence of various diseases and insect pests.

Fifth, change the pot ramets and treat them differently. After the Autumn Equinox, most of Lan Hui's vegetative growth tends to end, which is the best time to change ramets in a year. Generally speaking, most of the plant materials cultivated for more than two years are exhausted and should be replaced in time for the growth of orchids; weak seedlings can appropriately prolong the years of turning pots, but turning pots too frequently is not conducive to the rejuvenation of orchids. Before turning the ramet, the basin soil should be slightly dry to prevent damage to the orchid root; ramet utensils such as scissors should be specially used and disinfected, and the incisions and root-trimming wounds of the ramet should be coated with sterilized powder to prevent wound infection; the ramet site should be clean and the water for cleaning the orchid plant should be sanitary. Avoid using a basin of water to the end, and it is best to rinse it with a tap; the washed orchid plant should not be exposed to the sun and should be dried in the shade. The ramets of orchids should be treated differently from reality, in accordance with their nature. Lan Hui is a gregarious plant, which generally cannot be planted too frequently or singly. But this is not to say that the more potted orchid seedlings, the better. Practice has proved that the symbiosis of 4-5 generations of Cymbidium is not conducive to growth and should be divided at the right time. Because the false corm of cymbidium is too small, the ramet should not be too frequent, it is better to grow 4-5 plants, and it is not suitable for a single plant, otherwise, things will go contrary to one's wishes and lead to failure. Lanyou should try to avoid it.
