The first preparatory meeting of the 2019 Beijing Expo Bonsai International Competition was held in Shanghai.

The first preparatory meeting of "2019 Beijing Expo Bonsai International Competition" was held at Taoyuan Shuixiang Hotel, Chongming District, Shanghai from April 22 to 23, 2018.

Attendees: 34 people including the leaders of the vice president of the branch, the deputy secretary-general, the stationmaster of some provincial branches and the specially invited guests.

The main agenda of the meeting is to discuss and improve the preliminary plan of the "Bonsai International Competition" of the Beijing World Horticultural Expo, and to visit and inspect the Huangyang Base of Horticultural Village in Gangyan Town.

In order to fully demonstrate the achievements of Chinese bonsai art, promote the inclusiveness of traditional schools and modern techniques of bonsai, and strengthen the exchange and cooperation between Chinese bonsai and international bonsai, with the help of the platform of 2019 Beijing World Horticultural Expo, the Bonsai Branch of China Flower Association will hold an exhibition of bonsai international competition and carry out a series of activities. the holding time is scheduled for 13 days from August 1 to August 13, 2019.

The first preparatory meeting was chaired by Secretary-General Hao Jifeng.

Shi Yongru, executive president of the branch, delivered a keynote speech: on the theme orientation, competition theme, competition content, award setting, entry requirements, competition schedule, evaluation requirements and other eight aspects of the "bonsai international competition" activities, focusing on the exhibition form, competition methods, work selection and other issues to be submitted to the meeting for discussion, asking everyone to speak freely and broaden their ideas. Boldly innovate and strive to turn the "Bonsai International Competition" of the Beijing World Horticultural Expo into an influential first-class bonsai exhibition.

In response to the request put forward by President Shi, the participants spoke bravely and offered suggestions, and the exchange scene was very warm, and put forward a lot of landing opinions on the creation of the theme atmosphere of the conference, the political elements of the times, the rules of fair and fair competition, and the safety of exhibitors in all directions, which laid a solid foundation for the preparatory work. The preparatory work meeting was a complete success.

Zheng Changcai, president of the bonsai branch, finally stressed the importance of the "bonsai international competition" and encouraged everyone to attach great importance to and give full play to the backbone role of the masters, take into account the overall situation, and all the participants should have a strong sense of honor and sense of responsibility. ensure that this competition is held at a high level!

Finally, du Yonghong, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee of Rugao City, the head in charge of the Secretariat of the Bonsai Branch of the Chinese Flower Association, said at the end of the meeting: thank the participants for their understanding and concern for the work of the Bonsai Branch Secretariat. At the same time, he said that the local party and government will do their utmost to support the branch secretariat in organizing next year's "bonsai international competition."

On the morning of April 23, 2018, participants visited Huang Yang Base of Horticulture Village, Yanguang Town, Chongming District.

After the on-the-spot visit, leaders such as Wu Zhaozhong, deputy director of the district government, Song Xuemei, director of the District Committee of Agriculture, and Ding Donghong, mayor of Yangang Town, held a discussion with experts in preparation for the meeting in the conference room of the people's Government of Yangang Town. During the discussion, experts from all over the country put forward a lot of good suggestions and reference models for the situation of horticultural villages, and there were already intentional cooperation proposals at the venue at that time. Although the activity is relatively short, its influence will have important practical and historical significance for the development of horticultural village.
