Farmers want agricultural insurance to be expanded.
Patches of sugarcane fell to the ground and the leaves were broken. At 4: 00 p.m. on August 29, an unexpected gale mixed with thunderstorms and hail beat the sugarcane in Ye Xuelin, Yunxi Township, Qujiang District.
"the wind blew wildly for an hour, thunder and hail, and my more than 20 mu of sugar cane suffered." On the morning of August 31, at Ye Xuelin's contracted land, he said sadly.
The reporter saw at the scene that some employees were in the sugarcane field, lifting the fallen sugarcane one by one, and then covering the roots of the sugarcane with soil, busy producing and saving themselves. Ye Xuelin said that the strong wind blew all the way and then blew back after a while, and 1/3 of more than 20 mu of sugarcane was blown off. "originally, the sugarcane will be on the market in more than 10 days. In this way, thank God to be able to keep the remaining sugarcane alive."
Ye Xuelin, a native of Yunxi Village, Yunxi Township, is a big sugarcane grower who has been growing sugarcane for 7 years.
Last year, he contracted 30 mu of land to grow greenhouse sugar cane in Quanwang town, but he didn't make any money because of the dry weather. In November last year, he returned to his hometown to contract more than 20 mu of land and continued to build a greenhouse to grow sugarcane. Under his meticulous cultivation, even pieces of sugarcane have grown to about 2 meters high. Seeing that sugarcane is about to make money on the market, it has been shattered by this storm to become rich.
"now, the cost of hiring and planting is high. I have invested 300000 yuan this year. It is estimated that I can not get back the cost of this natural disaster." Ye Xuelin sighed helplessly.
At 5: 00 p.m. on August 29, when Li Genrong, a branch secretary of Yunxi Village, learned of the incident, he immediately called the person in charge of Yunxi township government to report on Ye Xuelin's natural disaster in planting sugar cane. "after 7 o'clock the next morning, I went to the scene to check. A series of sugarcane has indeed been flattened, resulting in great losses. " Li Genrong told reporters that Ye Xuelin invested a lot in sugar cane in the greenhouse, and whether the relevant government departments could give subsidies within a reasonable range to help Ye Xuelin tide over the difficulties.
"in order to reduce the losses of farmers, insurance companies should introduce relevant agricultural insurance." Li Genrong said: in order to develop the planting industry on a large scale, in order to prevent natural disasters and provide a guarantee for agricultural production, insurance companies should provide agricultural production insurance for farmers to grow grain and sugar cane.
The reporter asked Ye Xuelin whether he had participated in agricultural insurance or not. Ye Xuelin said: "I have been busy with the planting of sugarcane. I didn't think of going to insurance, and I don't know who to go to."
In this regard, the reporter interviewed the staff of the Agricultural Bureau of Qujiang District. The staff member said that at present, Qujiang District and insurance companies have launched insurance for agricultural facilities, such as insurance for steel greenhouses, as well as vegetable insurance for greenhouses and personal accident insurance for family farms. However, there is no insurance for growing sugar cane.
"I hope the insurance company will insure the planting of sugarcane. After all, I have grown sugarcane for many years, and I have mastered the technology. If there were no droughts and floods, there would still be money for growing sugarcane. This time, although I have encountered a natural disaster, I will plant it next year. " Ye Xuelin looked forward to it.
