On September 2, Chen Wanquan, director of the Hemp Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, pointed out at the agricultural forum that although the project "Construction and Application of Comprehensive Management Technology system of Wheat Stripe Rust in China", which won the first prize of national scientific and technological progress, it was found that there were two major bacterial bases of wheat stripe rust in autumn and spring, and the source and key areas of the disease were identified. The main ways of virulence variation of stripe rust and the law and reason of "loss" of rust resistance of varieties were revealed, and a technical platform for identification and evaluation of rust resistance of varieties and monitoring of virulence variation of pathogens was established. The disease zoning management strategy of "focusing on the treatment of over-summer variable areas, continuous control of winter breeding areas and comprehensive prevention of spring epidemic areas" was put forward. the technical system of comprehensive management of bacterial source base was constructed, and the total area of promotion in 8 provinces (cities and autonomous regions) in 2009 and 2013 was nearly 400 million mu, which realized the lasting control of disease and disease, and saved more than 2 billion kg of wheat loss every year. However, because China is the country with the largest occurrence area, the heaviest damage and the most complex ecological environment of wheat stripe rust in the world, the pathogenicity variation of the pathogen and the "loss" of disease resistance of varieties have not been solved yet. the factors affecting the prevalence of the disease are still changing, so the struggle against wheat stripe rust is an endless war.

According to Chen Wanquan, wheat stripe rust is a very ancient disease with a history of about four to five thousand years. As the summer spores of stripe rust can spread thousands of kilometers with high-altitude air flow, and its occurrence and harm has the characteristics of long-term, epidemic, variability and so on, effective prevention and control of stripe rust has become a long-term international problem.

Chen Wanquan believes that the prevention and control of wheat stripe rust in China cannot be urgent year after year, and it is necessary to seek radical solutions from three aspects: host, pathogen and environment, and establish a long-term mechanism for long-term control of the disease. First of all, it is necessary to clarify the variation mechanism of pathogens, cultivate long-lasting disease-resistant varieties, and solve the problem of singleness of disease resistance genes of varieties; secondly, we should carry out coordinated research and joint control around the comprehensive management of bacterial source bases, and according to the harm characteristics of diseases in different regions, assemble and optimize the technical system and mode of comprehensive prevention and control according to local conditions. Third, we should improve farmers' cognitive level and operational skills through technical training and media publicity, improve farmers' scientific and technological level of disease prevention through expert guidance and demonstration, and expand the application scale and benefits of disease prevention technology through government-led and administrative promotion.
