Key techniques of Orchid cultivation and Management in April

(1) Open the window for ventilation and leave the room cautiously. This month, there are Qingming Festival (5th or 6th) and Grain Rain (20th or 21st). Spring returns to the earth, and frost and snow basically stop. In addition to extreme cold weather, all potted flowers can be maintained outside the room. Due to the rapid rise in temperature, the use of closed orchid rooms to raise orchids should properly open windows to facilitate ventilation. (2) prepare in advance, sterilize and kill insects. Orchids can receive full light this month, usually without shade. However, as the temperature is getting higher and higher, diseases and insect pests begin to breed, so it is necessary to kill orchid rooms and orchid plants with germicidal insecticides in time, so as to strangle diseases and insect pests in the "cradle" as far as possible. (3) Cymbidium is in full bloom this month, and it should be shaded when the flowers are in bloom, otherwise the color of the flowers will be poor and affect the opening products. The flowering of Cymbidium requires higher air humidity, but the potted soil is slightly drier than usual. In general, if the potted soil is too wet, the flower is prone to shoulder fall and outer three-petal backward inclination, which affects the opening of the flower. Therefore, the watering of the cymbidium should be controlled before blooming, so that the potted soil is properly drier, so that the flowers will bloom more energetically. (4) this month is the last flowering stage of spring orchid and the full flowering stage of cymbidium. Cymbidium consumes the most nutrients. In order to facilitate the growth of orchid seedlings after flowering, the flowers and arrows should be cut off in time after the orchid blossoms. Generally, the flowers and arrows of spring orchids should be cut off for half a month, and the top flowers of cymbidium should be cut for a full week. Otherwise, it is not conducive to multiple buds and strong buds after anthesis and affect flowering in the coming year. (5) turn the pot and ramet to promote growth. This month is one of the best times for orchids to turn pots and split plants. Potted orchids, such as orchid seedlings full of pots or pots that have not been changed for more than two years, should be turned over or ramified in time during Qingming and Grain Rain. Proper water should be deducted before turning the pot, so that the orchid plant can be removed from the basin and prevent injuring the orchid root; the opportunity of turning the pot should be used to prune and disinfect the orchid plant, cut off the rotten roots and diseased leaves, and sterilize the cut on the ramet section in time. After putting on the pot, the orchid seedlings should be kept in a shady and ventilated place for one week and then brought into normal management. (6) apply fertilizer with water to promote sprouting. The potted orchids without buds can be fertilized once before and after the Qingming Festival, and the flowering orchids should be fertilized after a recuperation period of about ten days. Whether it is fertilizing the unflowered potted orchid or the flowering potted orchid, it is appropriate to choose sunny weather. Water should be properly deducted before fertilization, and the fertilization effect is the best when the potted soil is dry. On the one hand, the orchid root and potted soil absorb enough fertilizer. On the other hand, it also stimulates the orchid plant to sprout and has a good effect.
