The Department of Health and Communication of National Taiwan University and the European Society for Agricultural and Food Ethics (EurSafe) will jointly organize the "Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Agricultural Food and Food Ethics (APSafe)" from May 10 to 12, 2018, inviting domestic and foreign industry officials, universities, research and NGOs public welfare groups to focus on the serious topics of agricultural food production, food safety and environmental protection, and hope to conduct a transnational academic dialogue on agricultural production and food consumption. To enhance Taiwan's international visibility in agriculture and food ethics research, and hope that Taiwan will become an academic center for promoting agricultural food and food ethics in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to soliciting more than 60 academic papers from more than 10 countries, the conference invited a number of heavyweight scholars of food and environmental ethics to serve as Keynote Speaker experts, including Dr. Vandana Shiva, an Indian ecological movement scholar and leader of the International Forum on Globalization, and Prof. Dr. Paul Thompson, who specializes in agriculture and practical ethics and is currently chairman of agri-food and community ethics at the Kellogg Foundation. From 2006 to 2017, Prof. Dr. Matthias Kaiser;, director of the European Society for Agricultural and Food Ethics (EurSafe) and a researcher on the ethics of aquaculture fisheries, Prof. Dr. Holm, President of the World Humanistic Union, and Prof. Dr. Thompson, Vice President of the Institute of Humanities and Social Studies of National Taiwan University.

Joint partners and top ten topics for soliciting contributions

On February 20, 2017, the Department of Biography of National Taiwan University discussed the resolution with Prof. Kaiser, Vice Dean of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of National Taiwan University, honorary professor Guo Huaren of the Department of Agronomy, and then chairman of EurSafe, that is, they actively invited scholars and experts from various schools of National Taiwan University, Tsinghua University, Jiaotong University, Cheng University, Chengchi University, Donghua, Academia Sinica, Industrial Research Institute, Taiwan Agricultural extension Society, Taiwan Rural Social Society, Taiwan Animal Society and other agronomic groups. And opinion leaders of charity organic agriculture development foundation, Housewives Union Environmental Protection Foundation, National Association for the Promotion of Community College, Park Horticulture and other public welfare organizations to organize the seminar.

Starting with the composition and structure of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference, we should truly cross the boundaries of the professional fields of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, and bring together the academic momentum of industry, government, education and research and the practical experience of promoting environmental protection consumption. gather to examine and invest in the multiple aspects and challenges of agriculture and food ethics, and plan ten topics for soliciting articles, including:

1. Climate shock and Ethics of crop production, 2. Climate shock and Ethics of Animal production, 3. Land Ethics and Planning, 4. Consumers and Food Safety, 5. "Food and Farmer Education", 6. Food sovereignty and Justice, 7. Gender and Food, 8. Food sovereignty of Aborigines, 9. Genetically modified Food and Ethics, 10. "Multi-ethnic and Dietetic Culture" has received a warm response from people of insight who are concerned about the development of agriculture and food ethics in the Asia-Pacific region.

As of January 1, 2018, the solicitation results of this APSafe conference have received more than 60 academic papers from more than 10 countries. This unprecedented event fully reflects the urgent concern of the international community about the diversity and extensiveness of future challenges to agricultural production and food consumption caused by climate change. in particular, how to respond to the severe impact of climate and environment on agricultural production in the future in the Asia-Pacific region, and how to slow down the humanitarian disaster caused by uneven distribution of food system will be a common issue that human society needs to face urgently (click here on the agenda of the General Assembly)
