Three new orchid varieties cultivated in China have been successfully registered in the Royal Horticultural Society of the United Kingdom.

Two new varieties of Phalaenopsis, Doritaenopsis SCBG Taohua and Doritaenopsis SCBG Little Boy, and a new variety of Flame Orchid, Renantha SCBG Kylin, bred by Duan Jun, researcher of Genetic Breeding Research Group of South China Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences, have been successfully registered in Royal Horticultural Society recently and obtained registration certificate of new orchid varieties.

The three new orchid varieties were developed by the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Two of them belong to Phalaenopsis and the other belongs to Flame Orchid.

Orchids are the mainstream flower species in the world flower market at present. Over the years, South China Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences has cultivated dozens of new combinations (varieties) of orchids by means of cross breeding on the basis of extensive collection of orchid germplasm resources and establishment of orchid core germplasm resources bank. Ten new orchid combinations (varieties) have been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society.
