Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Peng Chao, a senior market analyst at the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, said in Harbin recently that under the influence of the national minimum purchase price policy for rice, China's rice market has shown a steady and slight increase since the beginning of the year. Rice prices are expected to be higher this year.

Peng Chao, a senior market analyst at the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, said in Harbin recently that under the influence of the national minimum purchase price policy for rice, China's rice market has generally shown a steady and slight increase since the beginning of the year. it is expected that rice prices this year will be higher than last year, in a high and stable state.

Peng Chao said at the 2014 Heilongjiang Autumn Agricultural products production and Marketing docking and Market situation Analysis meeting held here that the price of early indica rice in China's main producing areas has risen from 1.28 yuan per catty in January to 1.34 yuan per catty in August, while the price of late rice has remained at 1.35-1.36 yuan per catty. The price of japonica rice rose from 1.49 yuan per catty at the beginning of the year to 1.53 yuan per catty in August.

Peng Chao believes that the main reason for the rise in rice prices is that the state raised the minimum purchase price for rice in 2014. The minimum purchase prices of early indica rice, medium and late indica rice and japonica rice produced in 2014 were raised to 135 yuan, 138 yuan and 155 yuan per 50 kg respectively, 3-5 yuan higher than in 2013.

The yield of early indica rice decreased for the first time after "three consecutive increases", which also had an impact on rice prices. Statistics show that this year, the sown area of early rice across the country is 86.925 million mu, a decrease of 141000 mu or 0.2% compared with 2013, and the output of early rice has also declined.

"Japonica rice has good quality and taste, and the market demand increases, which helps to increase the price of japonica rice." Peng Chao expects the domestic rice market to remain strong this year. However, affected by the large inventory of indica rice in the south, the lower price in the international rice market and the increase in import quantity, the possibility of market fluctuation can not be ruled out.
