Five provinces join hands to strengthen rape industry

According to experts, in recent years, despite repeated appeals, the planting area of rape is difficult to expand, mainly due to the low level of mechanization of rape, especially the lack of precocious, extra-precocious new varieties. In 2012, the national rapeseed machine type and machine harvest level were 12.3% and 13.3% respectively, far lower than other crops.

In order to stabilize the "oil bottle", in April last year, the Ministry of Agriculture launched a key problem of increasing rape production in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, led by the Agricultural Department of Hubei Province, with the participation of the agricultural departments of Hunan, Sichuan, Jiangxi, and Jiangsu provinces. to overcome the bottleneck of early-maturing, three-high varieties and mechanization technology in rape production.

For more than a year, new breakthroughs have been made in tackling key problems of early-maturing varieties. Hubei has selected several good early-maturing varieties and combinations, such as "Shengguang 127" and "Huazao 291", which can be harvested from the end of April to early May in the southeast and middle of China. It is a suitable variety for "oil-rice", which can alleviate the tension and contradiction of stubble and expand the planting area of rape in triple-cropping area. In Hunan, a batch of precocious varieties (combinations) maturing on April 25 and a batch of very precocious rape lines which were sown at the end of October and matured around April 20 in Changsha area were bred. At the same time, the project area took into account both grain and oil, coordinated development, explored "oil-rice", "oil-rice (ratooning rice)" and other grain and oil triple cropping systems.

The meeting revealed that by popularizing mature technological models on a large scale, by 2020, the area of rapeseed in the project area of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River will develop steadily, reaching more than 73 million mu, an increase of about 7 million mu, and a total output of nearly 10 million tons, an increase of 1.3 million tons. the mechanization rate of rape in the whole process will be increased by 15%, and the per unit yield of grain will increase by 1.5% per year.
