When we plant potted plants, the soil we use is loose and breathable, but after a few months, some people's soil is still fluffy, while some people's soil has been hard into bricks, which is called "soil hardening". This kind of soil has poor water permeability and air permeability, can suffocate the roots, watering only one layer of the surface, and can not seep down, which is certainly not a good thing for potted plants. The first thing to avoid this situation is to know what you have done to make the soil like this.

Water the flowers with milk

From a nutritional point of view, milk is indeed a good fertilizer, but nutrients such as protein can not be directly absorbed by plants, and milk will form a film on the soil, hindering the circulation of water and air, and a few more times will form a brick. Directly watering milk is also easy to breed insects and bacteria, and milk fermented in the soil to produce a large amount of temperature may also burn roots. So milk, soy milk, rice water and so on should be sealed first, and then the flowers should be watered after fermentation.

Water the flowers with hard water

The hardness of water refers to the number of soluble calcium and magnesium compounds. Generally speaking, the water in the north is hard and contains more of these salts. Watering flowers with hard water for a long time will make the soil alkaline and produce hardening. Adding 0.2% color 0.5% ferrous sulfate (also known as green alum, black alum) to the water can effectively improve this problem. Because the nature of ferrous sulfate is unstable after dissolving water, it can be used as much as it is used.

Only apply chemical fertilizer but not organic fertilizer

In order to save trouble, some people only apply chemical fertilizer to potted plants, never apply organic fertilizer, and seem to be short of whatever, but the most basic organic matter is not supplemented, the content of organic matter becomes lower, the soil structure becomes worse, the activity of microorganisms decreases, and the soil acidity and alkaline imbalance, resulting in soil consolidation.

To solve this problem is also very simple, as long as more organic fertilizer on the line, it is suggested that pot fertilization is based on organic fertilizer; organic fertilizer can be made by yourself, the raw materials can be mashed into plastic bottles and sealed with a small amount of water. Fermentation is complete in about 10 days in summer, low temperature in winter, about a month, as long as the raw material is black and no longer smells, it means the fermentation is complete.

The composition of organic fertilizer is complex, and it basically has all kinds of nutrients needed by plants, but it will be more important according to different raw materials, such as beans, melon peel, feces and milk powder. Organic fertilizer with bone as raw material contains more phosphorus, and organic fertilizer with rice water and straw as raw material contains more potassium.
