Last Updated: 2024/11/06, If the carnation has rotten roots, the beauty of its flowers will be affected. So, what should we do? Let's first look at whether it's a disease problem or a flower-soil problem. if the former is the former, we have to cut off its broken roots, then spray them, and then strengthen management and increase the application of P and K fertilizers; if the latter, we also have to cut off the roots it spends first, and then replace it with better ventilated flower soil.

1. Suffering from disease

(1) Specific reasons: This plant is more vulnerable to a disease. This disease is called gray mold. It's a fungal disease. It happens easily when the temperature is very high and the humidity is also high. When disease occurs, the roots of the plant may be infected with harmful bacteria. Then the roots are likely to rot partially.

(2) Solution: After the rotten root, you can first cut off the rotten root and concentrate on it. Next, we need to spray some potions, such as prohydantoin or metalaxyl. Try to spray chemicals in time for prevention and control, the sooner the better. Management after that is also very important. For example, avoid watering on cloudy or rainy days. Strengthen ventilation and moisture removal operations. Also, the type of fertilizer needs attention. N fertilizer alone cannot be applied. In contrast, apply more fertilizer containing P and K elements.

2. Flower soil problem

(1) Specific reasons: roots are born in the flower soil. Therefore, good soil has a huge impact on roots. If the soil is too viscous, then the drainage will be poor, and the air permeability is not good. Then, it is very likely that there will be rotten roots.

(2) Solution: First, as in the above case, we have to deal with the rotten roots first. Next, we need to replace its pot soil. Choose soil that preserves fertility and aerates well. We can add some particulate matter. For example, increase the amount of particulate matter such as perlite. Adding them in can improve the permeability of the basin soil very well. In this way, the roots can breathe smoothly and will not be immersed in water for a long time. Slowly, the phenomenon of rotten roots may appear less.
