Croucher originated from myths and legends. In the Museum Records of Zhang Hua in Jin Dynasty, it is recorded that someone drifted away by Croucher in the pan-sea and unexpectedly met a cowherd and a weaver girl. Later generations attached the story characters to Zhang Qian, saying that he used Croucher to find the source of the Yellow River.
