The stage of growth and development of Cymbidium
The stage of growth and development of Cymbidium
It is observed that the growth and development of Cymbidium go through the following stages:
New buds sprout from February to March (new calendar, the same below)
New buds unearthed from April to May
New leaves elongate from June to July
From August to September, the new leaves continue to elongate to form new orchid plants, germinate and grow new roots and form independent roots.
From October to November, the new orchid plant gradually matured, the Reed head increased, and the flower bud differentiated.
From December to January of the following year, Gladiolus elongated.
It blossoms in February.
1. New elongation, the fastest growth
According to the author's fixed-point survey of the main cultivated varieties of Cymbidium from 1987 to 1988, the growth height of Gladiolus accounted for 70% of the adult plant height, 70% of the white ink, 68% of the black, 6: 6% of Jinzui and 52% of the silver edge, with an average of 65%.
2. The new orchid plant forms independent root system.
Before the newly unearthed leaves were unearthed, it mainly depended on the mother plant to provide water and fertilizer nutrition; at the end of July and the beginning of August, when the new gladiolus had pulled up all the leaves to form a new orchid plant, it germinated a large number of new roots; August and September was the period when the new orchid plant formed an independent root system, and the roots grew synchronously with the times. it is not only necessary to promote the growth, height, width and thickening of the new leaves, but also to cultivate healthy roots.
3. Vulnerable to heat, diseases and insect pests
When the new leaves open forks in June and July, they are vulnerable to red spiders, causing small red spots in the heart leaves. Red spider is a kind of mite pest, individuals are usually invisible to the naked eye, about 10 generations a year, when the summer temperature reaches 30 degrees, 5-7 days can form a generation. Last summer, due to high temperature and heavy rain, the damage caused by red spiders was more common. According to a survey of black species in enterprises in June, the damage rate of new gladiolus was 30.8%, and the serious one was as high as 12%.
In August and September, if there is not enough shade and insufficient water supply, it is easy to be burned by the scorching sun, resulting in burning edges or scorched tips of leaves, especially broad-leaved species such as Huizhou and Jinzui. This is a physiological disease and can be avoided artificially.
From late September to early October, although the heat passes, the hot weather after autumn occurs from time to time (commonly known as autumn tiger). The high temperature at noon often reaches more than 30 ℃, and it is extremely dry, so that people are caught off guard, such as uncovering the sun prematurely, or insufficient water, or poor root system, which leads to a big outbreak of black spot, and within three to five days there are little black spots on the green orchid leaves (mainly young leaves), which is in danger of being lost all year round. This is the time when planting orchids is the most prone to problems, so you must not be careless.
