How to apply chemical fertilizer
First of all, plants have to absorb a lot of needed nutrients such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and sulfur from air, soil and water. Each of these elements accounts for more than 1/1000 of the dry matter of higher plants. Then the micronutrient elements such as chlorine, iron, manganese, boron, zinc, copper and molybdenum should be absorbed from the soil. These elements account for less than a few thousandths of dry matter. Without any of these sixteen nutrient elements, higher plants cannot grow normally, so they are called essential nutrients for higher plant growth. These nutrient elements constitute the structural and life substances of plants, such as cellulose, lignin, protein, nucleic acid, fat, chlorophyll, enzyme and so on. Some of them are catalysts of plant metabolism, while others have special functions such as regulating cell permeability. Plant essential nutrient elements are equally important in plants regardless of the number, and the special function of any nutrient element can not be replaced by other elements, which is the equally important law and irreplaceable law of nutrient elements. In practice, we apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium the most, because plants have a large demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but the effective nutrients supplied by the soil are insufficient; the demand for calcium, magnesium and sulfur is also large, and the contents of available nutrients of calcium, magnesium and sulfur are relatively high in the soil, which generally do not need to be replenished. Some soil micronutrient elements are also relatively lacking, so we also apply trace element fertilizers.
We flower growers often have this experience. Potted flowers with fertilization grow much faster than those without fertilization, because the available nutrients of potted flowers are easily lost with frequent watering, and nutrients are replenished after fertilization. potted flowers can grow normally. This is true of growing flowers, and raising orchids is no exception. The fertilization of orchids should first be balanced, that is, according to the nutrient status of the soil, rational application of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and various trace element fertilizers. Our family planting orchids generally do not know the nutrient status of the plant material, so we can only judge it by the seedling condition. Now there is another problem in orchid cultivation, that is, the plant material is becoming more and more soilless, and the nutrients contained in the plant material are very limited, so the application of various nutrients is indispensable.
The methods of fertilization include basic application and topdressing. Foliar spraying is also a method of topdressing. Jishi now has a better kind of fertilizer-coated fertilizer. Coated fertilizer is coated with permeable substances such as resin and polyethylene, which can be applied to the soil to regulate the release of nutrients with the concentration of nutrient ions in the soil. therefore, there are nutrients in the soil and the concentration is not too high to cause fertilizer damage to orchids, and the fertilizer effect lasts for half a year. As a base fertilizer, the content of nitrogen should be a little more, and there should also be some phosphorus and potassium. It would be better if it also contains trace elements. Two kinds are introduced here: one is Duomiao coated fertilizer, which contains nitrogen: phosphorus: potassium: magnesium is 15-15-15-15-3, which is not bad. The dosage can be referred to the fertilizer manual and mix well with the plant material when it is put on the basin. The other is Haokangduo, the nutrient content of nitrogen: phosphorus: potassium is 14:12:14 is also possible. Topdressing the full price of orchid fertilizer available for commodities, such as orchid king, etc., the dosage can be applied according to the instructions, but also can be a little lower than the concentration of the instructions, mainly irrigation, but also foliar spray. There are many fertilizers of this kind, and there is little difference between them. Just choose one with better effect. Those with technology can also use commercial agricultural compound fertilizers (sulfur-based fertilizers are better, that is, those produced with ammonium sulfate and potassium sulfate as raw materials). These fertilizers have fast fertilizer effect and good effect, but it is not easy to master the usage: generally, they are watered first, and then bury a few grains on the edge of the basin according to the size of the basin. Foliar spraying, as a supplementary form of topdressing, is mainly urea, because plant leaves absorb urea very quickly. The concentration is usually 1/1000. Flowering, winter and sick bluegrass can also be sprayed with 1x1000 potassium dihydrogen phosphate, which can play the role of strong seedlings, promoting flowers, disease and insect resistance and cold resistance.
Topdressing is usually in the peak season of orchid growth. March to June and September to December are the main periods of topdressing. Topdressing should look at the situation of seedlings, more seedlings should be applied, and the concentration of thinness should be a little lower. If you want to grow more grass and are not ready to blossom, you can make up a little more nitrogen. Those who want to blossom and those with buds should have less nitrogen, more phosphorus and potassium. Phosphorus and potassium should also be used before the beginning of winter, which can enhance the resistance of bluegrass and facilitate the early onset of the next year.
If you buy commercial fertilizer, you should pay attention to the label, see if there is a production license number, the registration certificate number of the Ministry of Agriculture and the provincial level, and then look at the content of nutrients and the identification of ingredients, which are stipulated by our laws and national fertilizer labels and labeling standards. Those without these are illegal goods, so we should pay attention to them when buying them. (Liu Jingqiu)
