The Ministry of Agriculture recently held a forum on the development of wheat production in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, proposing that efforts will be made to solve the problems of water resources constraints, disasters, and low efficiency in the future, stabilize the wheat production area, and strive to stabilize the wheat area in Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces at about 240 million mu.

Yu Xinrong, vice minister of agriculture, said at the forum that the wheat output of the five provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui accounts for 76 percent of the country's total, which is directly related to the overall situation of national summer grain and wheat production.
