Natural risk and market risk are two challenges facing agricultural development. In the future, China will take a series of measures to promote the development of agricultural insurance and agricultural futures market, so as to enhance the anti-risk ability of agricultural development.

This reporter learned from the 3rd Risk Management and Agricultural Development Seminar held in Qingdao, Shandong Province on the 25th, which is an important part of the 12th China International Agricultural Products Fair.

Chen Xiaohua, vice-minister of agriculture, told the seminar that agricultural insurance is important to help farmers cope with natural risks. From 2007 to 2013, China's agricultural insurance provided a total of 4.07 trillion yuan of risk protection and paid 75.9 billion yuan of compensation to 120 million households. In the future, we should make breakthroughs in five aspects: giving full play to the role of market and government, perfecting institutional framework, promoting product innovation, encouraging the development of diversified agricultural insurance institutions, and establishing and perfecting agricultural insurance grass-roots service system.

Chen Xiaohua emphasized that futures market has price discovery and hedging functions, which is one of the effective ways to resolve agricultural market risks. After more than 20 years of development, China's agricultural products futures market basically covers grain, cotton, oil, sugar and other major agricultural products, which has played a positive role in stabilizing the market prices of agricultural products.

Jiang Yang, vice chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, said that from 2007 to the end of September this year, 37 leading agricultural industrialization enterprises realized initial public offering and listing, with financing amount of 28.5 billion yuan; refinancing of listed agricultural enterprises was 20.1 billion yuan. At present, there are 20 futures varieties of agricultural products listed in China's futures market, accounting for nearly half of the total number of listed commodity futures varieties. Financial services are beginning to show agricultural achievements.

The rapid development and application prospect of agricultural Internet of Things is another focus of this agricultural fair. At the Agricultural Internet of Things and Agricultural Product Quality Safety Traceability Sub-forum of 2014 Agricultural Informatization Summit Forum held on 26 th, Guangdefu, inspector of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Supervision Bureau of Ministry of Agriculture, and other participants said that at present, China's agricultural Internet of Things has achieved remarkable results in the application of five links, such as fine monitoring and dispatching of agricultural resources, monitoring and management of agricultural ecological environment, fine management of agricultural production process, traceability of agricultural product quality and logistics of agricultural products.

Zhang Hecheng, director of the Market and Economic Information Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that in 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture took the lead in implementing regional pilot projects for the agricultural Internet of Things in Tianjin, Shanghai and Anhui, supporting the three provinces and cities to carry out pilot demonstrations in key areas such as facility agriculture, dairy farming and aquaculture, full-process monitoring of agricultural product quality and safety, promotion of agricultural e-commerce, and monitoring of field food crop production, so as to explore visible, usable and sustainable promotion and application models for the agricultural Internet of Things. At present, The project is progressing smoothly and has achieved phased results.
