Last Updated: 2024/11/22, There is a 154th-year-old peony, this year it unexpectedly bloomed 72, and then innovative blooming record, even the British BBC has made a special documentary for it, it grows in Xiaoluxiang, Wuxi!

154-year-old peony, historical living fossil

Wuxi downtown is full of high-rise buildings, people come and go very noisy, it is unexpected that there is a small Lou alley with a history of more than 900 years. If you want to see 100-year-old peonies, you have to cross this narrow alley.

This alley is very narrow and deep, called preparation, along this alley, it feels like it takes a long time to walk to the end, and in some places even the sun cannot come in, just like a time tunnel.

Walking through the long Lou Lou alley and walking around, although I am eager to see the peony, I still don't want to miss the scenery along the way.

People can't help but respect the old house covered with green tiles all the way. This is an alley with a history of more than 900 years. It is the house and road that the ancients lived in.

Walking to the Fushou Hall, it is very close to the 154-year-old peony. The furnishings in the Fushou Hall are very simple and antique.

The plaque hanging in the Fushou Hall is said to have been written by Zhang Zongyi in the Qing Dynasty. the paper has long been yellowed, like an elderly man quietly telling history.

Finally, I saw a hundred-year-old peony in the garden on the west side of Fushou Hall. It was planted by Qin Huan, a scholar of the Qing Dynasty. It is a peony with a story. It unexpectedly opened 72 flowers this year, which surprised people in Wuxi and broke the record of 52 flowers in 2011.

In the early years of Tongzhi, Wuxi was occupied by the Taiping Army, and Qin Huan took refuge in Kaifeng, Henan Province. In the second year of Tongzhi, the Qing Dynasty recaptured Wuxi. When Qin Huan returned to Wuxi from Kaifeng, a friend gave him a peony.

After a hundred years of wind and rain, it escaped the disaster of the Cultural Revolution, several generations of people take good care of this peony, growing more and more prosperous!

The four big words "Jiabao Guohua" on the wall were inscribed by Song Yuanlian, the former Minister of Education of the Qing Dynasty, meaning that the peony is the heirloom of the Qin family, and the Qin family are the pillars and essence of the country!

The peony flowers grow so vigorously and healthily that they are inseparable from the careful care of the Qin family from generation to generation. The peony and the Qin family already have a deep relationship. It seems that only the most beautiful flowers can repay their care.

Peonies understand human nature, and the Qin family also understand the temperament of peonies. Daughter-in-law of the fourth generation of the Qin family is 86 years old. People call her Grandma Yu. Grandma says that peonies only like to eat meat, one is pig offal, the other is fish offal. If they are cooked and buried in the roots, they will certainly make the peonies bloom brightly.

Children also like to come to the Fushou Hall and draw the variety of this century-old peony on paper.

This peony has witnessed the historical changes of Xiaolouxiang for a hundred years. It is a second-class ancient tree in Wuxi and a living fossil of history.

This peony is even more amazing to foreigners! The British BBC sent someone to make a documentary about the peony in 2014, and they praised it!

The 154-year-old peony has a soul. It breathes with generations of Wuxi people and silently wishes people a happy life.

The heirloom of the Qin family is not gold, silver and jewelry.

But a tree planted 154 years ago.

Despite the vicissitudes of life

But the flowers are amazing peonies.

Huahua hopes that this peony can live forever.

Pass on the story of our generation!
