Recently, when I went to the countryside for an interview, I was chatting with several farmers next to a rice field during the fragrance of rice flowers. I talked about the new record of 1026.7 kilograms per mu of super rice set by Academician Yuan Longping not long ago. A farmer said, that is the output of other scientists, for our farmers, it is out of reach. Another co-operative director did not agree with him: if we want to grow like an expert, the output will certainly be increased. Now our output can also reach 1500 jin, much higher than in the past. Take your time!

I think the opinion of the director of the co-op is quite reasonable.

Perhaps for an ordinary farmer, no one can grow rice like Academician Yuan Longping, nor can he achieve that goal of high yield. So, what does the yield of academician Yuan Longping and other rice experts mean? It means that through the application of various scientific and technological means, it is possible in theory and in practice to further increase grain yield per unit area and tap the potential for grain production. Academician Yuan Longping's new record of 1026.7 kg per mu has set a new benchmark for rice production. If these scientific and technological means are popularized on a large scale, according to the director of the cooperative, "grow like an expert", the output will certainly be increased.

In 1996, the Ministry of Agriculture officially launched the "China Super Rice breeding Program" and put forward the three-phase goals of achieving 700 kg per mu in 2000, 800 kg in 2005 and 900 kg in 2015. At present, not only the goal of the third phase has long been achieved, but the goal of exceeding the 1000 kg mark in the fourth phase has also been achieved. In fact, when the first phase of the target is achieved, the yield of more than 700 kg per mu is an unreachable height for the vast number of farmers across the country, but now this height can be easily passed in many places. Thus it can be seen that the output of experts is not only expected, but also accessible.

How to turn the output of experts into a large-scale increase? I once consulted an expert in agricultural technology promotion on this issue, and he told me that the reason why experts are able to produce high yields, so that various technical measures can be fully implemented, therefore, to improve the arrival rate of various technologies is the key. Later, my interview in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, Jiansanjiang Land Reclamation confirmed this expert's view. The director of the Bureau of Science and Technology of Land Reclamation said that the land will be ploughed and ridged immediately after the corn is harvested in autumn, which is the ridging technology they have implemented in autumn. The benefits of ridging technology in autumn are, first, because the land after autumn harvest is suitable for deep pine, and there are more Rain Water in autumn, which is conducive to soil moisture conservation; second, after snow falls in winter, the soil goes through freezing and thawing alternately, increasing the inner gap like frozen tofu, and the ice and snow are rich in water in the coming year, which can ensure that spring sowing seedlings emerge neatly and have a high survival rate when transplanting. He also told me that local farmers still use traditional farming methods and go to "cat winter" after harvesting corn, and ploughing and ridging again at the beginning of next spring. At that time, the surface has just thawed and cannot be ploughed deeply, and the soil moisture is not good. In case of spring drought, it is more difficult to ensure the quality of spring ploughing. By comparison, the technology of ridging in autumn can increase the yield by 200 jin per mu.

You see, with a change in farming methods alone, there is such a big gap in yield. China's grain production has been continuously increased for more than a decade, in addition to the strong support of the policy of benefiting farmers, the popularization and application of a large number of new technologies play an important role. The techniques of deep loosening and suppression of wheat, centralized raising and mechanical transplanting of rice seedlings, one spray and three prevention in mid-term management, and the use of technology integration to create a high yield model, after the success of these techniques in the experimental fields of experts, once popularized and used in the field, it plays an immediate role in increasing unit yield in a large area. Although the output of experts is still difficult to replicate in the field, the output of experts is leading our country to increase grain production step by step. Think about how many of the goals set by experts at that time have been achieved by today's farmers, making great contributions to increasing grain production and farmers' income. In this way, can we still think that the output of experts is out of reach?

With the advance of science and technology, the output has increased by an inch. The scientists represented by Academician Yuan Longping are constantly seeking new goals and setting new records. under the guidance of these new goals, China's grain production has followed the trend and constantly climbed to new heights. It has become an important guarantee for national food security and national economic development.
