The Ministry of Agriculture dispatched a supervision team to guide the pre-winter management of wheat and rape in the main producing areas.

At present, the autumn and winter planting is coming to an end, which is the key period for strengthening pre-winter management and cultivating strong seedlings. On November 17, the Ministry of Agriculture sent five supervision groups composed of government cadres and experts to 10 major producing provinces, including Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, and Anhui, to carry out supervision and technical guidance on planting in autumn and winter, so as to keep abreast of the growth of wheat and rape seedlings in a timely manner, promote the implementation of various field management measures, ensure that strong seedlings survive the winter safely, and lay the foundation for a bumper harvest of grain and oil next summer.

The supervision team of the Ministry of Agriculture went deep into the fields and visited the village, focusing on four aspects of work: first, to investigate and understand the implementation of the sown area of wheat and rape planted in autumn and winter this year, and to analyze the reasons for the increase and decrease of the area; the second is to comprehensively grasp the growth situation of wheat and rape seedlings by checking seedlings, moisture and diseases and insect pests. The third is to investigate and understand the key measures for promoting autumn and winter planting in various localities, as well as the implementation of key technologies such as chemical seed dressing, deep ploughing and deep loosening, post-sowing suppression, soil testing and formula fertilization, precision semi-precision sowing, watering overwintering water, and so on; fourth, to discover new situations and problems in production in a timely manner, work with local agrotechnical personnel to improve the technical plan, and put forward targeted opinions and suggestions.

Doing a good job of pre-winter management is related to the start of grain and oil next summer. The Ministry of Agriculture requires all localities to further improve their pre-winter management technical plans, extensively organize government cadres and agricultural technicians to go deep into the production line, carry out classified guidance, and help farmers implement key measures such as soil moisture conservation, fertilizer and water management, disease and pest control, cold and drought prevention, and so on, so as to win the initiative for a bumper grain and oil harvest next summer.
