Cutting Propagation methods of Kumquat
1. Time
It is best to reproduce in spring and summer, and April to June is the best time, because during this period the temperature is above 20 ℃ and without sun exposure, the seedlings used for cuttings are easier to survive and grow.
II. Process
1. First of all, choose a very strong branch from the mother tree, cut it off, only need to leave 7-10 years or so, leave one or two petioles on the branch, only half of the leaves need to be left, and the rest will be cut off. After cutting it off, the wound can be sealed with wax so that the water will not evaporate.
2. Use a basin of moderate size and good drainage effect as its cutting basin, look for some sandy soil, be soft enough, then disinfect the soil and put it in the basin and insert the branches into it. If it is inserted in April and May, the part inserted into the soil needs to account for 2/3 of the whole branch, and then put it in the semi-shady area for maintenance. If it is planted in June, you need to insert the branch into the soil for 2/5, and then put it in an all-overcast environment. In general, in order to improve its chances of survival, it is best to cut it immediately after pruning.
3. After inserting it into the soil, pour it thoroughly, and then use a transparent bag to cover the basin, so that it will not be drenched when it rains, bacteria and other bacteria can not invade it, and the most important advantage of doing so is that it can keep a certain amount of moisture and will not die as a result of water volatilization, which can better protect its growth.
III. Daily maintenance
After cutting it, it can grow roots and shoots in about two months. The plastic bag should be taken apart every few days between the two months to let it breathe. At the same time, we should pay attention to the condition of the soil and water it if it is dry to help it increase its humidity. After the new leaves on the branches are scattered, the plastic bags can be removed and the young plants can be replaced with new pots.
